I believe that only the service member or if deceased his next of kin can request the full records but am not sure on that. Mary, You might try the VA, they have a 800 number you can call. I have received my father and grand father's files that way. Since there was a fire in St. Louis that burned a lot of veterans files I was able to learn a lot in the medical files,that was available else where. Be forewarned that it can take months to get these records. Steve was a coal miner and moved to several different mines. They are in the 1910 Knox county, but do not appear in the 1920. They both lived in Laurel at time of death. I am assuming they would be in Laurel in 1920, from info from my family. Any help would be appreciated.
