Curious if your Melissa Jane Jones is the 'Malicia Jones' I am showing in my data base, married to a William Henson on July 28, 1870 Clay Co KY. Please let me know your thoughts on this and any additional information that may help with Melissa vs Malicia. Thanks for sharing. I think the William Henson who married Rosanna Jones on June 24, 1845 'Knox Co' KY is the son of Rev War Vet William Henson and Ann Jacobs-Henson of 'Knox Co' KY. I don't think the William Henson who married Melissa (Elizabeth) Jones on April 04, 1856 Clay Co KY is the same William Henson, but I could be wrong. Thanks everyone for sharing whatever you can on the Hensons and Jones. In my genealogy of Darling and Rachel Stanfield, the only information that I have on Melissa Jane Jones is that she was born about 1859 and is seventh child of them. Sorry to be of little help. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/EBB.2ACE/2614 Message Board Post: I have bits and pieces of Searcy, Casteel, Parker info that I’m trying to figure out. I noticed your Laurel Co board/list has some VERY wonderful and helpful people so I thought I’d see if any of you can help me. Here’s the bits and pieces I have. I know this post is lengthy, and has lots of holes-but ANY help would be appreciated!! Albert Searcy married Rebecca Casteel on Nov 23, 1830 in Laurel Co, KY. Who were Albert Searcy’s parents? His Siblings? My line is the Searcy line. Albert Searcy died in or around 1844 according to a Metcalf post. One of Albert & Rebecca’s sons, White Parker Searcy, in his Civil War papers stated that he was born in Laurel Co in 1841 and that he was raised an orphan because his father died in California, but didn’t say when or how. Does anyone know why Albert Searcy would go to California? Circumstances of the death? Any other Casteels, Metcalfs, Parkers or Laurel Co folks go to CA around that time? I’ve noticed that many of the Laurel Co folks moved to MO around then, but no mention of CA. From what I’ve gleaned off this site and others, Albert and Rebecca had the following children 1. William Searcy – born ? died? –one author said “killed a man and left the area and never heard of again” Any info on this event? 2. Sarah Searcy –on 1860 census with Rebecca but don’t know if Sarah is a daughter, daughter in law, or other relative 3. Mary Ann Searcy –bn 1836 died 1878/79 Russell Co, KY –married Henry Harrison Rader 4. White Parker Searcy – bn April 22, 1841 Laurel Co, KY; died May 14, 1917 Stephens Co, OK –married twice (1) mar 1859 Samantha Jane Stephens-Russell/Pulaski Co-divorced after 1860 (2) in MS 1865 to Francis Virginia Tarver. White Parker Searcy is my line. 5. Matilda Searcy –bn abt 1841 –possible twin to White Parker Searcy–mar Hezekiah Copeland Garrett 1865 Pulaski Co, KY. In 1860 , Matilda Searcy is living with (housekeeper) Isaac F Brown and wife (daughter of Theophelus Pennington). She’s living close to her brother White Parker Searcy and his first wife in Pulaski Co, KY. Her future husband Hezekiah was a Copeland orphan who was raised by Garrett family. In 1860, he’s living next door to Matilda working for Theophelus Pennington family. Another researcher is at a dead end here –she’d appreciate ANYTHING on the Copeland/Garrett/Searcy story anyone can share. In Jan 1845 Laurel Co court records, Rebecca Casteel Searcy tries to get her children back from White Parker (s/o Pleasant L Parker Sr & Sarah Dillard) but doesn’t succeed. Her children were bound to White Parker in ?. So, Albert must have died by 1844 in order to have her children bound to White Parker and then in the first month of 1845 ask to have them taken away from him. The next month, Feb 1845, Rebecca Searcy is back in court trying to get support for an illegitimate child by White Parker. She won and White Parker was ordered to pay for 7 years starting back to July 15, 1844. The child is probably Wilson Searcy. 6. Wilson Searcy – bn 1844 per 1860 & 1870 census– served in Civil War – mar Nancy –on 1860 Laurel Co Census with Rebecca Searcy. On 1870 census with wife? Nancy Recently someone posted a excerpt from the Mt. Echo newspaper for April 9, 1875 stating that Jake and John Brown were being tried (but expected to be acquitted) of the manslaughter of Searcy. Anyone know who this Searcy was and/or the circumstances? Wilson Searcy seems to be the only male Searcy left in Laurel Co at that time. On the 1850 Laurel Co census there is a White Parker and Matilda Parker, both age 9, living with Pleasant Lewis Parker Sr & Sarah Dillard Parker family. The 2 children are listed under son Green Parker; however, I think they are my two Searcy children. Emails to Pleasant L Parker's family lines indicate they do not know who these two children are and that Green Parker did not have 2 children in 1850. By 1850, White Parker s/o Pleasant Sr had married a Carpenter in Laurel Co and moved to MO. I’d appreciate ANYTHING you have to share on this Searcy family. Any clues or suggestions on how to find out who Albert Searcy's parents/sibblings were would be Greatly appeciated! THANK YOU!! Benita
