Edmond's parents were Thomas Moore (b. abt. 1808 KY) and Sarah "Sally" McFadden (b. abt. 1811 KY). Do you know of any relationship? Young is not a very common middle name. We have not yet been able to determine who Thomas' parents are.
Michael I had a brother named Michael Forbis. Both yours are the same as mine. I just forgot the Y in Hayden / Haydon. Forbis has a dozen ways to spell it. Forbes, Forbis, Forbus, Forbush ( in Yadkin NC. and some in Ky.) Fawbus, and Fawbush. Isaac Forbush was Robert and Mary Curtis Forbush/ Forbis son. This is my clan. Kathy, I went up to the cemetery when they first started the project. I watched them clean one of the stones, it really was unbelievable. It was really great to talk to Helen and Mark. Helen and I went to my families graves and she gave me historical background of the cemetery as well as showed me the plot map that had been drawn up showing all the places in the cemetery where there either was a grave or was one at one time. Honestly, I can't believe there were that many graves in the cemetery. They also showed me a book of photos they had of "before" and "after" repair/cleaning of stones and even statues that had been vandalized. If anyone has the time to go by the cemetery, I recommend them doing so, its well worth the trip and I'm sure you'd be amazed. They absolutely work miracles on the stones. Hi Cosetta The ASHER research on Dillion Asher III. (b1788-d?) s/o Robertson Asher 1766-1828 who was a brother of "our" Dillion Asher 1777-1844 (who also is called "old Dill" was done by Steve Bingham and Hermina Brinkmeier. Since Hermina's death in August 2003 I manage the ASHER database. Steve at this time does not have time to work on genealogy. I work mostly on Dillion Asher 1777-1844 for whom we now have over 38,000 names of descendents and spouses in our database. As far as I know, "your" Dillion Asher only had children with his wife Elizabeth. "Our" Dillion Asher 1777-1844 (who was "your" Dillion's uncle) Had 27 children with 4 women (two sets of sisters) 1. he only married Nancy Davis 2. but also had children with her sister Sally Davis. He acknowledged the Children with Sally in his will. 3. also had children with Sarah Collett and her sister Elizabeth Collett. We list as Dillion Asher's III. Wife: Elizabeth (married 1805/6 Knox Co) (I have seen surnames "Blevins" and you state "Smith" On your line, we show the same data as you, but only go to Abijah Burns b 1871 Clay Co KY. - nothing else If you are willing to share, I would appreciate the data you have on Abijah Burns' descendents. The only information I have is that his wife's name was Haley. I'm guessing that he would have been born in the early 1900's. I've checked rootsweb and the only Earl Asher I'm finding is one that was born 20 Aug 1919 and died 13 Jan. 2000, his last residence was Roark in Leslie Co. However, I'm not certain if this is the one I'm looking for. Hildagard, In your Asher database do you show that Dillion Asher and Elizabeth Smith (?)had a daughter Rachel b. 1809 that married William Burns b. 1802 ? William is my gg grandfather through his son Washington and Maltida Davidson Burns, their son William b. 1847 and 1st. Mary Polly Brewer (my great grandmother), 2nd wife Alabama Roberts. My grandfather, Abijah Burns b. 1871 and Martillia Wilson b. 1879. Dillion Asher had children with different women and I'm not really sure if Elizabeth is Rachel's mother. Thank you and I understand your reasons for not posting your data on the web. I have tried to have people correct their incorrect information on a couple for different surnames, but the bad info keeps making the rounds. Hi Deronda, Ordatha/Ardatha Wyrick was the daughter of Ezekial Jefferson Wyrick and Amanda Burton from Lee Co., VA. Land records in London, Laurel Co., KY for E.J. Wyrick (various spellings of Wyrick): Wm. Storms and Ezikial Wyrick 2/19/1892 Book R 376 E.J. Wyrick and Minks, Henry M. on 3/25/1897 Book R pg 378 E.J. Perdee 4/25/1902 Book V pg 272 The Robert Bustle transaction was particulary interesting to me because Robert Bustle married E.J. Wyrick's daughter, Ordatha, as few months later. On the 1900 census Robert & Ardatha Bustle are hh. 398 and Ezeciel J. & Amandy Wyrick are hh. 399. 1900 Laurel Co., KY census: House 398 Robert Bussel (really Bustle) 30 Jan 1870 b KY md 0 yrs Ardatha 18 May 1882 b VA no children Also in house Robert's mother Mitha 63 a widow b Sep 1836 and his sister Fanny single 23 Mar 1879. The Mt. Echo got Robert's first name as James on his wife's obituary. They might have gotten the cemetery wrong too. Who knows. --------------- Excerpts from the Mt. Echo 1901 MAY 3, 1901 DIED-Last Saturday afternoon at the residence of her father, Exekiel Wyrick, Mrs. James Bustle, after an illness of over a month. Her remains were laid to rest on Cemetery Hill Sunday morning the bereaved relatives and other friends have our deepest sympathy. --------------- Next Robert married Niagra Sams about 1904. And that's about all the further I've tracked this family so far. Though Robert's parents are John Bustle and Teritha Jones... and Teritha was a sister of another of our ancestors, a Civil War vet named Sparks Jones. 1910 Laurel Co., KY census: Robert Bustle Enumeration District: 0122 Color: W Age: 49 Birth Place: Kentucky Visit: 0068 County: Laurel Relation: Husband Wife Nidana 21, Kentucky Daughter Othia M 05, Kentucky Son Casper O 03, Kentucky Son Jesse H NR, Kentucky 1 non-relative The transcription of the 1900 Laurel Co. census Kathy Deronda wrote: > > Kathy, > > My grandfather and family is buried at Cemetery Hill. Deronda There are more Sizemore/Roark marriages. With just the surnames I don't know who they are Hildegard -----Original Message----- From: Deronda [mailto:derondas@mis.net] Sent: Tuesday, April 12, 2005 10:05 AM To: KYLAUREL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [KYLAUREL-L] Asher Hildegard, Thank you again. This means so much to me. I'm actually doing this research for someone else. All he had was the names of his grandparents and that they came from Leslie County... and now we have so much more. I had been searching online and all I could find was the death of Earl Asher, and I wasn't even sure it was the correct Earl Asher. I'm doing the same thing with his paternal grandparents... all I have is the names (Matt Wagers and Lucy) and that they were from Clay County. Hopefully I'll find someone that can fill in some of the blanks or give me enough information that I will have somewhere to look. My step-fathers mother was a Sizemore from Leslie County. She married a Roark. I think shes been doing some research on those lines. Thanks again for your generosity.
