First let me say hello to the Knox Co. mailing list. This is my first post. As for Harlan Co. and the Brewer list I'm still trying to break through that brickwall which is my ggg-grandfather Jeremiah BREWER. I have just returned to researching Grandpa BREWER and have spent the better part of the last two days looking through records on the Knox and Harlan Cos. GenWeb sites. By the way, both these county sites are great. Here is what I have theorized from the records available. Hoping someone can help document these theories. Jeremiah BREWER is probably the son of John Brewer who arrives in Knox Co, KY by 1808 according to Tax Records. 1810 Knox Co., KY Federal Enumeration Census BREWER, John 3 males - under 10 1 male - 26-44 (this is John) 2 females - under 10 2 females - 10-15 1 female - 26-44 (this is probably Betsie) John BREWER probably dies before 1814 when Betsie BREWER marries Thomas HOSKINS 10 Aug 1814. 1819 Knox Co. transfers part to Harlan Co. 1820 Harlan Co., KY Federal Enumeration Census page 110 HOSKINS, Thomas 1 male - 16-26 (This, I believe, is my ggg-grandfather Jeremiah BREWER) 1 male - 45 and up 1 female 10-16 1 female - 16-26 1 female 45 and up Harlan Co., KY census' have Jeremiah/Jerry BREWER listed from 1830 through 1860. I believe 4 of his 6 children from his first marriage are: Elizabeth m. Elisha Green Polly m. James Thomas Ritta m. John Blevins Frances m. Maticia Mitchell Two sons yet unnamed (Elizabeth is probably named after Jeremiah's mother Betsie/Elizabeth.) OK, can anyone either prove or disprove any of these theories. I need all the help I can get. Thanks, Corinne
