Karr, 88, Keavy, ====================================================== From The Corbin News Journal On Line 21 Aug 2002 Ella Mae Lawson, 76, Louden Road, Williamsburg, (Mulberry Community), passed away Friday, August 16, 2002 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. She was a member of the Mulberry Community Church. Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Lawson Wilson of Williamsburg and Brenda Aileen Lawson Atchison and husband, James of Dayton, Ohio; two sons, Glennis Lawson and fiancee, Mossella White of Williamsburg and Darrell Lawson and fiancee, Carolyn Anderson of Williamsburg; seven grandchildren, Michael Noble and fiancee, Peggy Cox, Jimmy Atchison, Jeffery Atchison, Mark Lawson, Glenna Lawson, Alicia Lawson, and Jonathon Elliott; two step-grandchildren, Laura Young and Kristy Young; two great-grandchildren, Justin Noble and Jeremy Noble; one sister, Della Marie Powers of Louden Road, Williamsburg; one brother, Bennie Wayne Smith of Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Claude and Rhoda Hamblin Smith; her husband, Emerson Lawson; and a grandson, Darrell Lawson, Jr. Funeral services were held Monday, August 19 at the Jones & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerome McCullah and Rev. Bart Powers officiating. Burial followed in the Carr Cemetery at Yaden. Pallbearers were B.J. Gerald, Jeffrey Atchison, Mike Powers, Glen Cornett, Jonathan Taylor, Matthew Taylor, Travis Tiller, and Brian Lawson. Jones & Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Hettie Rains, 82, passed away Monday, August 19, 2002 at home. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, R.D. Rains, by her parents, Tom Henry and Martha Lawson, and by three sisters. Hettie was a life-long, faithful Christian, and a member of the First Baptist Church Williamsburg, where she taught the Fidelis Sunday School class for 45 years. Hettie was a graduate of the St. Paul Bible College, St. Paul, Minnesota, and Cumberland College in Williamsburg. She taught in the Whitley County School System for 32 years. Hettie is the precious mother of four children, Tom Rains and his wife, Debbie of Williamsburg, George Rains of Atlanta, Georgia, Bobbie Brown and her husband, Bill of Kodak, Tennessee, and Martha White and her husband, Glenn of Moundsville, West Virginia, and the cherished grandmother of nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Loving sisters and brothers, Thelma Chinn and Pruda Mosley of Williamsburg, George Lawson of Pine Knot, Richard Lawson of Zephyrhills, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends and neighbors also survive Hettie. Hettie had many interests in life. She was a published poet. She loved her flower gardens, her many church activities and she led an active prayer life praying intercessory prayer each day for friends, family and other concerns. Hettie's faith was a great testimony to everyone who knew her, and she touched many lives with her devotion to Jesus and her belief in Him. Her great faith sustained her and her family during these last months of her life and her brave battle with cancer. Due to the renovations of the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, funeral services will be held at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, August 21 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Harold Mauney officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery. Ellison Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Audrey Hill Chaffins, 58, Huber Heights, Ohio, passed away Monday, August 12, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ann Faulkner and husband, Mark of Dayton, Ohio, Betty Cochran and husband, Jim of Vandalia, Ohio, and Elizabeth Vanderpool of Huber Heights, Ohio; five grandchildren, Amy Daigle and husband, Brett, Michael Faulkner, Tyler Cochran, Haley Cochran and Kayla Zagula; one great-grandson, Brian Daigle; father, Cecil Hill of Williamsburg; two brothers, Randal Hill of Huber Heights, Ohio and Terry Hill of Huber Heights, Ohio; also several aunts, uncles, and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Chaffins; her mother, Mary Edna Partin Hill; and a brother, Birchell Hill. Eva Jeanette Hubbs Manes, 37, Whetstone Church Road, Williamsburg, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2002 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. Survivors include her husband, Terry Wayne Manes of Bee Creek Road, Corbin; one daughter, Jessica RaeLynn Paul of Whetstone Church Road, Williamsburg; one son, Justin Paul of Williamsburg; her mother, Iva Hubbs of Whetstone Church Road, Williamsburg; two sisters, Juanita Bargo of Whetstone Church Road, Williamsburg and Carol Hubbs of Seymour, Indiana; one brother, Don Hubbs of Cincinnati, Ohio; two step-daughters, Terri Beth Manes of Jonestown and Tabatha Nicole Bingham of Jonestown; one step-grandchild, Haven Cheyene Bingham of Jonestown; also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her father, Steely Hubbs. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 15 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lowell Huddleston and Rev. Jimmy Siler officiating. He was a deacon and member of the Nevisdale Baptist Church and a member of the United Mine Workers Union (UMWA) and a Kentucky Colonel. Survivors include five daughters, Jeree McCain and husband, Harold of Lebanon, Ohio, Barbara Lee and husband, Charlie of Hebron, Ohio, Mary Magaline Young and husband, Jim of Mainville, Ohio, Sandra Mahan and husband, Rev. Lee of Williamsburg, and Shirley Faulkner of Williamsburg; seven sons, Chester Faulkner and wife, Harolyne of Williamsburg, Fred Faulkner and wife, Eunice of Bronston, Howard Faulkner of Bronston, Ralph Faulkner and wife, Sharolett of Mason, Ohio, Jessie Faulkner of Williamsburg, Ronnie Faulkner and wife, Novella of Williamsburg, and Michael Faulkner and wife, Kim of Williamsburg; 34 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Daisy Goins of Williamsburg and Opal Bruce of Meadow Creek; also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Andrea Fay Faulkner; two daughters-in-law, Nadine Faulkner and Terry Huddleston Faulkner. She was a member of the Meadow Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Sue Hunter of New Zion Road, Williamsburg and Faye Allen and husband, Jim of Hwy. 26, Corbin; five sons, Jack Miller and wife, Marie of Cincinnati, Ohio, Bill Miller and wife, Geneva of Norwood, Ohio, Lewis Miller and wife, Eldrada of Rockholds, J.P. Miller and wife, Liz of Goshen, Ohio, and Cliff Miller and wife, Norma of Rockholds; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; one step-daughter, Wilma Terrell of the Meadow Creek Community, Rockholds; five step-sons, Raymond (Jim) Helton of Rockholds, Norman (Pete) Helton of Cumberland Falls Road, Williamsburg, Ralph (Curley) Helton and wife, Lela of Corbin, Ray (Monk) Helton of Rockholds and Paul Helton of Rockholds; one sister-in-law, Ada Henderson of Corbin; also several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. He was a 1973 graduate of Corbin High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Vicki A. Dudley; his parents, C.H. and Juanita Dudley of Corbin; a sister, LaFonda Mauldin of Zebulon, North Carolina; a brother, Philip Dudley of St. Matthews; a niece, Stephanie Bentley of St. Petersburg, Florida; Vicki's parents, Waneth Combs of Corbin and J. Bart Amburgy of Berea; Botsey Amburgy and his family; Bobby and Betsy Allen and their family. He was the father of the late Marc Anthony Dudley. A private service was held at the Cumberland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Brother John Gill officiating. Paul Overbey, 66, Gray, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2002 at the University of Louisville Medical Center. His wife, Shirley Owens Overbey, survives. Funeral services were held August 18 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brent Carroll officiating. Burial was in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens by Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Elizabeth S. Harris, 97, Corbin, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2002 at the Christian Health Center. A daughter, Mary Jaynes, is among her survivors. Funeral services were held August 20 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home Chapel with Brothers Larry Smith and David Scott officiating. Burial was in the Smith Cemetery by the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Brandon Lee Clayton Douglas, infant son of Virgil Douglas Jr. and Stacy Combs Douglas of Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held August 16 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fred Powers and Rev. Kenneth Rickett officiating. Burial was in the Highland Park Cemetery, Croley Addition by the Croley Funeral Home. Randall Heath Davis, 29, Hamilton, Ohio, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2002 at Jellico Creek Road, Williamsburg. His father, Carson Davis of Williamsburg, survives. Visitation will be August 21 after 6 p.m. at Ellison Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held August 22 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Cemetery by Ellison Funeral Home. Elmer Hale, Williamsburg, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2002 in LaFollette, Tennessee. Funeral services were held August 17 at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Pence and Rev. Ralph Engle officiating. Burial was in the Little Wolf Creek Cemetery by Ellison Funeral Home. Burl Kelsay, 65, Corbin, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at Baptist Regional Medical Center. Two sisters survive. Funeral services were held August 17 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert King officiating. Burial was in the Hart Cemetery by Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Pauline Cox, 78, Rockholds, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at The Heritage Nursing Home in Corbin. Her husband, Glenn Cox, survives. Funeral services were held August 16 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darvin Wells officiating. Burial followed in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens by Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Ella Walters Bingham, 92, formerly of Corbin, passed away in Northern Kentucky on Monday, August 12, 2002. She was the widow of Roy S. Bingham. Graveside services were held August 15 at the Worley Cemetery by O'Neil Funeral Home. Howard W. Karr, 88, Keavy, passed away Friday, August 16, 2002 at his home. He was the husband of the late Zola M. Karr. Funeral services were held August 19 at the Locust Grove Christian Church with Bro. Tommy Lanham and Bro. David Maltzan officiating.
