She is survived by two sons, Jim Clawson and wife, Sue of Williamsburg and John Clawson of Williamsburg; three daughters, Joyce Clawson of Louisville, Sarah Faye Wright and husband, Larry of Ashland, and Sharon Proffitt and husband, Dale of LaGrange; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Homer Beams and wife, Helen of Louisville; two sisters, Mary Walters of Louisville and Maude Davenport of Williamsburg. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 10 at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eugene Hamilton officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Stanfill Addition. Ellison Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Ray Mullis, 83, Lucy Lay Hollow, Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at the Beechtree Manor Nursing Home in Jellico, Tennessee. Survivors include four daughters, Deloris Faye White and husband, Joe of Williamsburg, Mildred R. Rainwater and husband, Frank of Williamsburg, Claudia White and husband, John of Dalton, Georgia, and Gladys White and husband, Jimmy of Williamsburg; four sons, William Ray Mullis, Jr. and wife, Minnie Sue of Williamsburg, Earl E. Mullis and wife, Staci of Saxton, Garrett J. Mullis and wife, Virgie of Pikeville, and Arvle Mullis and wife, Ebie of Ravenna, Ohio; 39 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Cora Mullis of Gatliff; as well as a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Croley Mullis; a son, Charles Mullis; and three daughters, Novina Mullis, Martha Mullis, and Gracie Mullis. Funeral services were held Friday, August 9 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Manuel Meadors and Rev. Clay Canada officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Moses Addition. Croley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Herbert E. Wilson, 82, St. Petersburg, Florida, formerly of Corbin, passed away July 21, 2002 in St. Petersburg. Mr. Wilson owned and operated Wilson Cleaners until his retirement. He was a deacon and 71-year-member of the First Baptist Church of Corbin. He was a World War II combat veteran as well as a member of the Hugh Harris Lodge. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dewie Litteral Wilson, and a daughter, Anita of St. Petersburg, Florida. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church chapel with Dr. Barry Howard officiating. Kenneth G. Alsip, 86, formerly of Corbin and Covington, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2002 at Florence. He was born January 25, 1916 in Corbin to the late George and Tavia Bunch Alsip. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was retired from the L&N Railroad. He belonged to the Steele's Chapel Christian Church near Corbin. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Marley Alsip; a sister, Sara Monhollen Saylor; and a granddaughter, Jana Alsip. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Bingham Alsip; five children, Keith Alsip and wife, Karen of Independence, Darrell Alsip and wife, Micki of Georgia, Don Taylor and wife, Judy of Indiana, Anita Stephan and husband, George of Fort Mitchell, and Darlene Rice Carr of Williamsburg; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother, Earnest Alsip of Corbin; and many nieces and nephews. Garrett Bennett, 82, Highland Park Community, Wil-liamsburg, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2002 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Union College and a Masters Degree from Eastern Kentucky University and was a school teacher in the Whitley County School system for over 34 years -- a teacher and basketball coach at Poplar Creek High School, taught at Gatliff High School and at Whitley County High School. He was also a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Marines and in the U.S. Army Fifth Ranger Battalion for four years. Military Honors include Purple Heart for wounds received in action and a Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground combat against the enemy during World War II European-African Middle Eastern Theater. He was a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church, Gideons, and D.A.V. Chapter 90 in Williamsburg. Survivors include his wife, Marie Bennett of Williamsburg; two sons, Gary Wayne Bennett of Williamsburg and Richard Allen Bennett and wife, Melanie of Williamsburg; four grandchildren, Jodi Huddleston, Melanie Jo Clark, Damon Bennett, and Tyler Wayne Bennett, all of Williamsburg; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Jeanette Davis of Williamsburg; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Ernest Anderson, 70, Huddleston Road, Williams-burg, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2002 at the Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife, Anna Anderson of Williamsburg; three daughters, Wilma Huddleston and husband, Rev. Wilbur of Williamsburg, Betty Bennett and husband, David of Pine Knot, and Brenda Douglas and husband, Donnie of Pine Knot; one son, Ricky Anderson of Brookville, Indiana; ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Homer Anderson of Williamsburg and Obie Anderson of Emlyn; four sisters, Mary Ruth Hill of Williamsburg, Ollie Mae Spivey of Williamsburg, Maggie Rains of Williamsburg, and Lavada Faber of Emlyn; three step-sons, Allen Brown of Williamsburg, Bob Brown of Williamsburg, and Ted Brown of Texas; as well as several nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren. Elbert "Sack" of Hwy. 25W, Williamsburg, Lynna Hill and husband, Richard of Loveland, Ohio, and Shirley Leach and husband, Ray of Toledo, Ohio; four sons, Virgil Rickett and wife, Doris of Indianapolis, Indiana, Charles Oaks and wife, Mary of Goshen, Ohio, John Oaks and wife, Cathy of Toledo, Ohio, and Dan Oaks of Williamsburg; 24 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anna Lawson of Williamsburg, Lori Smith of Smithville, Tennessee and Goldie Ferrell of Spencer, Tennessee; one brother, J.D. Maxine Hyde Bolding, 79, Corbin, formerly of Friona, Texas, West Palm Beach, Florida, and Knoxville, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 10, 2002. She was born in Walters, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Homer A. Hyde and the late Lula Mae Greer Hyde. She lived in Friona, Texas from 1929 until 1940 when she graduated from Friona High School. She attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. She held degrees from Texas Tech. at Lubbock, the Bible Baptist Seminary at Fort Worth Texas. She was the former wife of the Rev. R. Haskell Bolding and the mother of Jan Bolding of Corbin and Mark Bolding and wife, Julia of Columbia, South Carolina. She is also survived by her grandson, Jason Lowry; one sister, Eva Dean Kimbrough and husband, Rev. Don Kimbrough of Friona, Texas; two brothers, Rev. Omer E. Hyde and wife, Neva of Tacoma, Washington, and Dr. Truell W. Hyde of Killeen, Texas; a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends who celebrate her life. A celebration of her life was held on Monday, August 12 at the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Barry Howard, Rev. Don Kimbrough, and Dr. Phil Majors officiating. Flora Mae Rains, 90, Balltown Road, Williamsburg, passed away Sunday morning, August 11, 2002 at her home. She was a member of the Siler Chapel Church of God.
