Ash Pike, Williamsburg, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at his home. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church of Taylor, Michigan. Survivors include his mother, Fannie Edna Hill of Wolf Creek Road, Williamsburg; two sisters, Carol Tackett and husband, Jay of Romulus, Michigan and Barb Mitchell and husband, Onus of Belleville, Michigan; one brother, Shelby Hill and wife, Karen of Taylor, Michigan; special cousins, Gertie Partin, Ina Hill and Dale and Judy Fraley; 16 nieces and nephews and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Hill on November 17, 1997; sister, Evodean Hill Spicer in 1992; and a nephew, Michael Spicer. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 24 at the Jones & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Peace and Rev. Bart Powers officiating. Burial follow in the Hill Cemetery at Meadow Creek. Pallbearers were Dale Fraley, Billy Gorham, John Hurst, Darrell Partin, David Sasko and Roger Sasko. Jones & Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. JILL BEGLEY, 45, Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Corbin, passed away suddenly Monday, August 19, 2002 at the Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. Jill was the daughter of the late James L. and Gladys E. Begley, Jr. She is survived by two brothers, Jaime L. Begley and James L. Begley III; a niece, Macy C. Begley; and sister-in-law, Susan C. Begley, all of Corbin. She is also survived by her best friend, Suzanne Beard of Knoxville, and many loving friends in Knoxville, Lexington, Corbin, and co-workers of Quest Diagnostics in Knoxville. Jill was inducted into the Corbin High School Hall of Fame for basketball. She will truly be missed by all whose life she touched. Funeral services were held Friday, August 23 at the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. C.H. Dudley officiating. Burial was in the Pine Hill Cemetery. O'Neil Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. WILLIAM ANDREW MOSES, 61, Highway 92 West, Williamsburg, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2002 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Moses of Williamsburg; a son, Andrew Moses and wife, Patty of Earlville, Illinois; daughter, Connie Lynn Hatland and husband, Daniel of Leland, Illinois; six grandchildren, William, Wyatt, Melissa, Cody, Christopher and Carrie; mother, Ruth Moses of Williamsburg; ten brothers and sisters, Theodore Moses and wife, Edna of Williamsburg, Shirley Moses and wife, Estell of Waynesboro, Georgia, Kermit Moses and wife, Vera of Warrenville, Illinois, Felix Moses and wife, Margie of Pine Knot, Matilda Moses Cox of W/B, Rommell and Aretta Moses of Williamsburg, Flonnie Moses of Williamsburg, Carolyn Moses of Williamsburg, Carl Moses and wife, Brenda of Williamsburg, and William Thompson of Williamsburg. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 24 at the Jellico Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Doyle Lester officiating. Burial was in the Jellico Creek Cemetery. Ellison Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. BOB PETREY, 73, Williamsburg, passed away Saturday evening, August 24, 2002 at his home. He was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church in Williamsburg for over 61 years, member of the Men's Bible Class at Main Street Baptist and member of the International Brotherhood Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.) Local 369. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy "Doll" Lane Petrey of Williamsburg; two daughters, Gail Drake of Cincinnati, Ohio and Susan Jett and husband, Dr. Steven of Amberg, Germany; two grandchildren, Matthew Jett and Ashleigh Jett of Amberg, Germany; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Patrick and husband, Joe of Williamsburg and Mrs. Lou Byrd and husband, Richard of Cynthiana; two brothers, Denny Byrd and wife, Lezlee Jo of Williamsburg and Jimmy Byrd and wife, Sylvia of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Donnie Witt of Williamsburg; aunt, Leona McReynolds of Daytona, Florida; also several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 28 at the Main Street Baptist Church with Dr. Steven Jett officiating. Burial will be in the Davis Addition of Highland Cemetery, Williamsburg. Pallbearers will be Mayor Bill Nighbert, Allan Steely, Phil Pettit, Allen Petrey, Edgar Bryant, Bobo Robinson, Dr. John David Mountjoy and Phil Brennenstuhl. EUNA SREPHENS, 62, Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2002 at the Williamsburg Nursing Home. She was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Gina Wiggins and husband, David of Williamsburg; one son, William Stephens and wife, Jennifer of Williamsburg; three grandchildren, Brent Stevens of Williamsburg, Austin Stephens of Williamsburg, and Zachary Wiggins of Williamsburg; two sisters, Joyce Powers of Williamsburg and Wilma Reynolds of Williamsburg; also several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 22 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fred Powers officiating. Burial was in the Piney Grove Cemetery. Croley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. LAURA M. MCKEEHAN, 89, Jellico, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2002 at the Jellico Community Hospital. She was the widow of the late Elbert F. McKeehan. Funeral services were held August 26 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Stokes officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Cemetery by Cox & Son Funeral Home. EDDIE NEAL THOMAS, 42, Corbin, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at the U.K. Medical Center, Lexington. His parents, Doyle and Ruth Thomas, survive. Funeral services were held August 24 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Earl Gregory officiating. Entombment was in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum by the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. FLORENCE GILBERT, 83, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Florida. She was the daughter of the late Harry Gilbert and Nola Gatliff Gilbert. Funeral services will be August 28 at 1:00 p.m. at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fred Powers officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery by Croley Funeral Home. RICKY GENE GARRETT, 35, Pioneer, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2002 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Funeral services were held August 25 at the Fairview Baptist Church (TN), with Rev. Paul Duncan and Rev. Jerry Yancey officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery (TN) by Harp Funeral Home. CHARLES PRESTON CARMACK, 75, Eubank, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2002 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, Somerset. A daughter, Ella Louise Peterson of Corbin, is among his survivors. Funeral services were held August 27 at the Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home with Bros. Landon Sexton and Greg Thorn officiating. Burial was in the Double Springs Cemetery. LEONARD MOSES, 62, Williamsburg, passed away Friday, August 16, 2002 at Beech Tree Manor Nursing Home. Two children survive. Funeral services were held August 19 at the Llewellyn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Landes officiating. Burial was in the Douglas Cemetery by Llewellyn Funeral Home. DELIA NOLAN MOORE, formerly of Laurel County, passed away Friday, August 23, 2002 at Prestonsburg. A sister, Beulah Cassidy of Corbin, is among her survivors. Funeral services were held August 26 at the Carter Funeral Home at Prestonsburg. Burial was in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville.
