They are not there as of 1870, however. The reason I think it could be them is that his mother's name was Clarindy/Clarinda and in one of the later census, one of the dau.'s of Ellis ROSE was named Clara. Dwelling 393-399 ROSE, Sterling M., 36, husband, mar., b. KY; parents b. KY . Clarindy, 33, wife, mar. b. KY; father b. TN; mother b. KY . Mariam, 13, at home, dau, KY . James A. B., 11, farms, son, KY . Richard S.,9, son, KY . George M. A., 7, son, KY . Sarah A., 5, dau, KY . Rachel M., 2, dau, Ky NOTE: Just about time that another child would have been due!!! My thinking was that the birth date was off a bit, either later in the year after the census was taken or something like that. The later census records seem to bear that out, although one cannot depend upon census records to be correct either. There was no much illiteracy and lack of general recordkeeping. Birthdates can vary all over the place. Tombstone dates are also not accurate at times. Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA
