J.(Stephen) is my grandfather, I was not interested in genealogy while he was livng, so only heard the story from him. Ben's grave is at Dowis Chapel in Wilton, Knox County, but is not found in any list of graves for that cemetery. Wilton is just above the Whitley County line and near Corbin. It is probably marked by a worn, blank tombstone by this time. When we were in Kentucky a couple of years ago, we found one cemetery with all the stones worn blank. While we were there, we searched for her grave, but never found it. I, really, would think something like this would be in the news. The story I heard was a worker in a mill came after Benjamin, Benjamin hit him with a board and killed him. The men at his home were seeking vengence for that incidence. Rebecca was upstairs with the children, the youngest a week old. Ben shot and killed one or more of the group, she became upset and bled to death.
