Carter, 68, of Corbin Willard "Tooter" Partin, 66, of Williamsburg ====================================================== Roy Edward Hamblin, 71, New Lebanon, Ohio, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2002 after a long illness at the Hospice Center in Dayton, Ohio. He retired from Delco Products after 38 years of service, was a member of Masonic Solar Lodge #730, he worked for the railroad and was a coal miner in his youth and also was a Pinkerton guard. He was a loving husband and a devoted father of 13 children. Survivors include his children, Madelon Hamblin of Nevisdale, Larry Mike Hamblin and wife, Carol of Patterson Creek, Danny Hamblin of Portales, New Mexico, Annette Stewart of Brookville, Ohio, David Mathew Hamblin of Richmond, Kristi Mitchell of Brookeville, Ohio, Rhonda Cheryl Hamblin of Brookville, Ohio, James Reed Hamblin of New Lebanon, Ohio, Randal Joseph Hamblin of New Lebanon, Ohio, Mary Farrow of West Alexandria, Ohio, Amy Katherine Hamblin of New Lebanon, Ohio and Lisa Dawn Hamblin of New Lebanon, Ohio; mother, Bertha Rains of Williamsburg; sisters, Dottie Curnutt, Carolyn Rains, Brenda Elliott and Jacklyn Fields, all of Williamsburg and Kathrine Lawson of Sparta; brother, Maurice Hamblin of Williamsburg; aunts, Becky Jane Gibbs of the Mulberry Community and Dorothy Faulkner of Patterson Creek; several sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, and a host of other relatives and friends; 60 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Wanda Faye (Hall) Hamblin; daughter, Regina Donita; father, Lloyd Hamblin; brothers, John, James and Bob Hamblin; grandchildren, David Matthew Hamblin Jr., and Michelle Lynn Hamblin. Funeral services were held Monday, September 9 at the Rogers' Funeral Home in New Lebanon, Ohio with Pastor Tim Hamilton presiding. Burial followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Brookville, Ohio. Daniel Vanover, 84, of Paris Karr Road in Keavy passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at his residence. He was a retired mechanic for Juder Stidham Pontiac, was a member of the D.A.V. in Florida and Keavy, as well as a U.S. Navy veteran having served in WWII. Survivors include two sons, Randy Vanover of Hyden and James Vanover of Corbin; two daughters, Cheryl Vanover of Lady Lake, Florida and Sandra Estep and husband Jason of Keavy; two brothers, Rosco Vanover of Tavares, Florida and William Vanover II of Somerset; three sisters, Lillian Delph of Richmond, Florence Lewis of Hyden and Ruth Pennington of Corbin. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Opal Howard Vanover, by three brothers Elvin "Epp" Vanover, Maniel Vanover and Clayton Vanover, and by one sister Nola Vanover Wooton, and by his parents Emily Wooton Vanover and William Vanover I. Sherrill Elizabeth Faulkner Harley, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, died September 12, 2002. Sherrill was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on April 24, 1939 to the late George Arthur Faulkner and the late Nevah Siler Faulkner. Sherrill grew up in Williamsburg, Kentucky, attended school there and graduated from Cumberland College. She is survived by her husband Neil of Fort Mill, South Carolina; her sister, Sandra Faulkner Brown and husband, R.L. Brown, Jr. of Corbin; daughters Pamela Carol and husband Thomas Karl of Arlington, Virginia, Paige Elizabeth and her fiancee Johnathon David Sheremata of Arlington, Virginia, and son Brian Hamilton Harley and wife, Stephanie of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is also survived by a niece, Robin Brown Gorton and husband William Gorton of Lexington and a nephew, Robert Brown, III and wife Penelope of Corbin; five great neices and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 22, 2002 at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, Pine Street at Lockman, Fort Mill, South Carolina. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations could be made to Saint Paul's Episcopal Church or to a charity of the donor's choice. Lucile Rookard Forsythe, formerly of Gordon Street, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2002 in the Christian Health Center. A daughter of the late Howard M. and Myrtle Shoop Rookard, she lived in Cincinnati, Ohio several years where she worked at the Hamilton County Courthouse. After returning to Corbin, she was active in various organizations: Frist Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Business and Professional Women's Club, Homemaker's Club, and Forsythia Garden Club. She was a staff member of O'Neil Funeral Home for many years. Lucile was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Forsythe, in 1971. Several years ago, she became a member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors include her daughter, Dorssie Lee Wagner of Madison, AL; two grandsons: Clifford Christopher Wagner, III and wife Leslie of Harvest, AL and Eric Lee Wagner and wife Kelly of Madison; three great grandsons: Christopher, Harrison, and Hunter Wagner; one sister, Helene McGuire and husband Sigmund of Seattle, WA; one brother, Arthur Rookard and wife Artie of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Betty Rookard of Lexington; several nieces and nephews, including Linda R. Witt of Corbin, Jack C. Rookard, Jr. and Karen D. Taylor, both of Lexington. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Daniel Schwendeman officiating. Mrs. Nancy Baird, 62, of Sycamore, Illinois formerly of Jellico Creek Community, passed away Friday, September 13, 2002 at the Kishwaukee Community Hospital in Illinois. Survivors include five sons, Tom Baird of Sycamore, Illinois, Rick Baird of Kentucky, Joe Baird and wife Deb of Dekalb, Illinois, Jerry Baird of Kentucky, and Rob Baird of Sycamore, Illinois; one daughter, Tammie Baird of Sycamore, Illinois; eight grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two sisters, Delilha McPherson of Sycamore, Illinois and Sue Saylor & George of Kentucky; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Estil and Agnes Rogers Robertson. Graveside services were held Tuesday, September 17 at the Jellico Creek Cemetery with Rev. Ted Mullins officiating. Mrs. Barbara Ford, 62, of Jacksfork Community Rockholds passed away Saturday morning, September 7,2002 at her home. Mary Vola Robinson, 82, of Chula Vista, California passed away Wednesday morning September 4, 2002 in San Diego, California. Born July 28, 1920 in Corbin, she was the daughter of the late Sherman Harold Brewer and Ida Mae Mobly Brewer. Vola was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Robertson, also of Corbin. She was a loving mother to sons Olin, Leland, and Kamel, and Mother-in-law to Margie, Sharon, and Linda, all residents of California; sister to Arthur Brewer of Michigan; and Mammo to 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her friends and loved ones. A graveside service was held Friday, September 13 at Locust Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. She was a homemaker and member of the 17th Street Christian Church. Survivors include one son, Dean Sizemore and wife Virginia of Gray; two daughters, Erlene Disney and husband David of Gray and Emily Burke and husband Carmel of Corbin; one brother, Elmer Shell of Indiana; one sister, Elizabeth Green of Indiana; four grandchildren, Everett Sizemore Jr., Sherry Callis, Vicki Conner, and Diana Farley; also surviving are seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Sizemore, her son Everett Sizemore, and by her parents. Funeral services were held Saturday 14 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Adams, 88, of Corbin passed away Saturday, September 14, 2002 in the Christian Health Center. He was the son of Glenda Hammons Gross and Gary Craig Gross. Funeral services were held September 11 at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Jackson and Rev. Terry Abner officiating. Claude (Little Bud) Williams, 75, of Florence passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood. He was the nephew of Iva White of Corbin. Burial was in the Felts Chapel Cemetery by the Hart Funeral Home. Billy D. Carter, 68, of Corbin passed away Friday, September 13, 2002. He was the husband of Teddie Carter of Corbin. Funeral services were conducted Monday, September 16 at Bacon Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Max Cox officiating. Burial was in the Dowis Chapel Cemetery by the Hart Funeral Home. Willard "Tooter" Partin, 66, of Williamsburg passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at the Baptist Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Elbert & Hannah Orick Partin. Funeral services were held Sept. 13 at the Cox & Son Chapel with Rev. Bobby Caddell officiating.
