RESPONSE: First, let me say there was no formalized records of births in KY prior to 1911. Therefore, one is not going to locate a birth record. That is not to say there were not some few records that were recorded mostly in ledger format. Otherwise, we depend upon census listings, marriage records, death records, Bible records, and such. In order to even begin to locate such a very COMMON name as James JONES, you need to supply additional information. For example, what was the names of the TWO sisters you refer to?? Perhaps they can all be found listed on one of the census in 1870 or living close by in 1880 somewhere. Perhaps their mother died early on but if we knew where James JONES lived, perhaps a marriage record on him could be located. Where and when did the TWO sisters marry and to whom? Where was James JONES living? Do you have any documentation on that? Lastly, where and when did Abe JONES marry and die? If he had children, what were their names. Often one or more of the children would be named for his parents or her parents or the mother and the father. DO NOT RESPOND TO ME DIRECTLY BECAUSE I AM NOT A RELATIVE. SIMPLY SEND YOUR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TO THE KNOX CO. MAIL LIST AS YOU HAVE THIS QUERY POSTING. That will greatly improve your chances of getting a response from one or more persons. Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA I am looking for the birth record for an Abe (Abe L) Or Abraham L Jones born in 1863 in KY, in Madison, Clay or Knox county KY. He was the child of a James Jones and I am trying to determine who the mother was.
