THOMAS1 MILLS, SR. was born May 10, 1823 in Knox Co., KY, and died May 30, 1906 in Knox Co., KY. He married (1) SUSANNAH COPE. He married (2) SARAH MESSER Abt. 1849. He married (3) ALABAMA JACKSON February 10, 1881 in Knox Co., KY, daughter of WILLIAM JACKSON and MARGARET GOLDEN. She was born Abt. 1862 in Knox Co., KY, and died April 1891 in Knox Co., KY. Child of THOMAS MILLS and SARAH MESSER is: i. EASTER2 MILLS, b. October 1849, Kentucky; d. September 02, 1927; m. SAMUEL GAMBREL, December 21, 1865; b. March 1848, Kentucky. Notes for SAMUEL GAMBREL: 1900 Census shows Samuel and Esther married 28 years, 11 children, 9 living. None of the children born prior to 1880 appear. There is a Gordon Messer, Grandson, born January 1896 but all children in the household at this time are listed as single. The family appears in the 1880, Knox Co. census as well. Samuel is listed as a farmer. Initially I had Easter's date of birth as October 1859 but changed it when I realized she would have been 6 when they were married. Frankly, I'm unsure which is correct but lean toward the marriage date as accurate at the moment. Children of THOMAS MILLS and ALABAMA JACKSON are: ii. CLEVELAND2 MILLS, b. November 1884. iii. First of all I apologize for the last message, but I do hate to let you know that you family history is wrong, Alabama Jackson Mills did NOT marry Thomas Mills, Sr. She married his son, Thomas, Mills, Jr. which is evidenced by the 1880 census of Knox County, KY. I realize the 1900 Census of Knox County has Cleveland, Axie, Hugh, Mary and Ruth listed as his children, but is it possible that they are his grandchildren? His is listed as a widower, just as he was in 1880.
