Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CBB.2ACE/5100.1 Message Board Post: Hello, You must have missed what I wrote with regard to Daw BROWN. I have no marriage information on him. This family appears as follows on the 1910 Knox Co. En. Dist: 0107 Dwelling 0031 BROWN, Silas, 39, b. KY . Lizzie, wife, 36, KY . Eli, son, 20, Ky . Mollie, 19, Ky . Allie, 18, KY . Daw, 18, KY . Steve, 16, KY . Evin, 14, KY On the 1920 Knox co., Hubbard Township, Precinct #5 Dwelling 69-69 BROWN, Silas, 54 . Lizzie, wife, 43 . Evie, son, 21 Therefore, Daw left the household sometime bet. 1910 and 1920. I just don't see him living nearby his father. If your fiancee is a BROWN and has been in Knox Co. or his family has been in Knox Co.for a number of years, then it is almost 100% certain he is related in some way to the early 1800's BROWN family. With regard to dates, I don't necessarily have to have the specific date but something that lets me know where to begin. For example, your age , whatever it is and you can work backwards with a new generation abt. every 20 years. But, since I don't know if your grandparents or parents were old in the 1940's vs. the 1970's or 1980's, no time line can be established for them. Age is very important in any query. The census records transcribed only go to 1900. Others are on CD's and Ancestry.com which go up to 1930. So, we always attempt to get everyone back to where they can be picked up on some census record. For example, I am 63 yrs. old and my grandparents on both sides were born in the 1880's and 1870's. You are probably much younger and we are dealing with a different census situation. Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA
