Census for Knox Co. was taken. Census records are broken down into Precincts and different persons would be assigned to conduct the census for that particular census. Not necessarily would they all conduct their census on the very same date. As a general rule, you will find census for most of the counties I've encountered in southeastern KY to have been conducted at some point after the first of the year in the early spring months and prior to June. I looked at 3 different precincts in Knox Co. for you in the 1880 . Two enumerators stated they conducted their census on June 1st, 1880 and one stated it was conducted on June lst and 2nd 1880. In actuality, I wonder if it would not have taken them more than just one day to get around to all the homes in their individual precincts. Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA
