    3. Thursday, October 31, 2002 Obituaries Mr. Denvil E. Moore, 67, of Flat Creek, passed away Sunday evening, Oct. 27, 2002 at his home. He was a son of the late Joseph R. and Flora Moore, born on April 12, 1935 in Knox County. Mr. Moore was a former coal miner. He was a member of the New Covenant Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He was also a farmer, salesman and horse trader. On March 5, 1955, he united in marriage with Geneva Shackelford in Jellico, Tenn. and to this union three children were born. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Denvil E. Moore Jr. and one granddaughter, Jessica Anne Godsey. He is survived by his wife, Geneva Moore of Flat Creek; his children, Barbara Sue Moore Ramey and husband Eddie of Grayson and Floretta Moore of Shalimar, Fla.; two sisters, Margaret Moore Hamlin and husband Bill of Woodbine, Mary Rose McDaniel and husband Ron of Morristown, Tenn.; two brothers, George Moore and wife Francis of Gray and Gilbert Moore and wife Beverly, also of Gray; four grandchildren, Crystal Lee Steele, Marlaina Ginger Steele, Brook Nicole Foley and James Clinton Moore Foley; one great grandson, Gabriel Clinton Isaiah Hall; among other loved ones and dear friends who mourn his passing. Funeral services will be conducted in the Knox Funeral Home Chapel Thursday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ed Wayne Gibson officiating. Mr. Moore will be laid to rest in the Rose Cemetery at Swan Lake. Casketbearers will be family and friends. Honorary bearers will be his many good friends. James Edward "Pap" York, 80, of Barbourville, was born in Knox County to the late Edward York and Sallie Mealer York and passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 in the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. He was a member of the First Baptist Church on Church Street in Barbourville and a retired CSX railroad employee. He was a son of the late Edward York and Sallie Mealer York. He is survived by his wife, Diane Hughes York of Barbourville. Funeral services were conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002 with the Rev. Kenneth Farris, the Rev. William Mixon, the Rev. John Clark and the Rev. Eugene Mays officiating. Burial was in the Hughes Cemetery at Whitesburg Hollow, Barbourville. Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Wanda Lou Buchanan Brown, 58, of Scalf, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002 in the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. She was a daughter of the late William "Bill" Buchanan and Cecil Baker Buchanan. She was a member of the Salt Gum Baptist Church and wife of the late Cliford Brown. She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Brown Brock and husband Wesley of Scalf, Genda Rosa Brown of Somerset; five grandchildren; her brothers, Gerald Buchanan of Trosper, Robert Buchanan and wife Marlene of Little Brush Creek, Orville Buchanan and wife Shirley of Piqua, Ohio, John Buchanan and wife Prudie of the Davis Bend Community. Funeral services were conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 with the Rev. Earl Hammons and the Rev. Vernon Morris officiating. Mrs. Estileene (Lee) Dozier, 64, of Piqua, Ohio, formerly of Knox County, passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002 in the Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Calleb Lee and Lillie Mae (Lawson) Lee. She united in marriage with Floyd H. Dozier who preceded her in death. She believed in the Pentecostal faith. She is survived by one daughter, Jill Rogers of Piqua, Ohio; one granddaughter; five sisters, Wanda Gambill and husband Ranzie of Houston, Ohio, Anna Roberts and husband Winston, Emma Wilkinson and husband Charles, Jean Castle and husband Buck, Bonnie Doolin and husband Hubert "Duck" Doolin, all of Piqua, Ohio; three brothers, Pastor Sam Daniel Lee and wife Carolyn of Piqua, Ohio, Henderson Lee and wife Peggy of Bradford, Ohio and David Michael Lee of Piqua, Ohio. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Oct. 28, 2002 in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Fries officiating. Burial was in the Hampton Cemetery at Girdler. She was a daughter of the late Jeff and Minda Smallwood Grubb. She was a member of the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Alonzo Mills of Scalf; her children, Lola Mae Mills and husband Dexter, Janice Sue Mills, Betty Faye Mills, all of Scalf, Judy Gail Brown and husband Bowman of Scalf, C. J. Rosie Hubbard Bingham, 79, of Walker, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002 at her home. She was a daughter of the late William and Bertha Bingham Hubbard. She was a member of the Dewitt Baptist Church. She united in marriage with Woodrow Wilson Bingham who preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons, Douglas W. Bingham and William Doyle Bingham, both of Walker; her daughters, Virgena Rhodes and husband Stephen Rhodes of Corbin, Maryanne Stewart and husband Jim Stewart III of Flat Lick; one grandson; her sister, Mary Hubbard King and husband Jack King of Greensburg, Ind.; her sisters-in-law, Pearl Hubbard of Barbourville, Cleta Hubbard of Cincinnati, Ohio, Joyce Hubbard of Scalf and Post Mills of Barbourville. She was a daughter of the late Taylor and Mary Gambrel Smith, born on Jan. 15, 1943 in Knox County. She was a homemaker and attended Hughes Hill Holiness Church. On Aug. 19, 1959, she united in marriage with Matthew Hinkle. She is survived by her children, Kay Day and husband Stephen of Clinton, Tenn., Gary Ray Hinkle and wife Teresa of Girdler, Oliver Junior Hinkle of Turkey Creek, Betty Jean Deaton and husband David of Girdler, Loretta Lynn Williams and husband Robby of Orange, Va., Sheila Ann Hurst of Cannon, Charles Matthew Hinkle and wife Michele of Barbourville, Danny Hinkle and wife Eva of Callebs Creek and Jerry Ellis Hinkle and wife Anita of Corbin; her stepmother, Artie Mills Smith of Girdler; twenty-six grandchildren. Infant Issac William Buchanan, of Barbourville, the son of William and Cherie Gambrel Buchanan, was born and passed away in the Knox County Hospital Oct. 25, 2002. He is survived by his parents, William and Cherie Buchanan, Barbourville; his maternal grandparents, Brenda Gambrel, Barbourville, Donnie and Barbara Gambrel of Stinking Creek; his paternal grandparents, Marlene and Robert Buchanan, Trosper; an aunt, Tammy Gibson, Fayetteville, Ohio. Funeral services were conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel Sunday, Oct. 27 with the Rev. Danny Hembree officiating. Burial was in the Gray Cemetery at Flat Lick. Terry Dewayne "Frog" Myrick Sr., 37, of Louisville, formerly of Knox County, passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 in the Harrison County Hospital in Indiana. He was a son of Roxie Smith and the late Ancil Myrick. On February 3, 1983, he united in marriage with Colleen Sowders. He believed in the Baptist faith and was a construction worker. He is survived by his wife, Colleen Sowders Myrick; three sons, Terry Dewayne Myrick Jr., Timothy Douglas Myrick, Travis Daniel Myrick, all of Louisville; his mother, Roxie Smith of Barbourville; two sisters, Barbara Jean Cox, Debbie Sue Mills, both of Barbourville; seven brothers, Jerry Paul Myrick and wife Kathy of Barbourville, Darrel "Muscles" Myrick and wife Rita of Corbin, John David Myrick, Ancil "Tony" Myrick and wife Trish, Michael Myrick and wife Sophie, all of Barbourville, Kim "Jip" Myrick and wife Rhonda of Fairmont, Ga. and Curtis Myrick of Barbourville. Hampton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hazel Gray Jordan, 86, of Gleneste, Ohio, formerly of Dewitt, passed away Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002 in the Hospice of Cincinnati. She was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary Broughton Gray. Her husband Gilbert Jordan preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Preston Jordan and wife Elaine, Fern Broughton and husband Roscoe, Joyce Cox and husband Paul, Bob Jordan and wife Terri, Carlene Jones and husband Larry, Rhonda Clawson and husband Michael; 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Batavia, Ohio on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Burial was in the Rest Haven Memorial Park in Evendale, Ohio.
