I can't 100% certain on which Elizabeth Carnes married James Meredith, but he definetly married "a" Elizabeth Carnes, and I "think" it was my GG Grandma Elizabeth because of her second marriage record. Some Carnes researchers believe it to be Elizabeth d/o Henry & Debbie Smith Carnes, and that Elizabeth would be my Elizabeth's 1st cousin. If I am wrong, I apolagize to them. Patterson at: Henry Carnes' Wit: George Kinningham & Lynn Kinningham **from this Marriage book, it appears possible that Elizabeth Carnes d/o Henry Carnes married James Meredith. 1870 Knox Co. Census, Dwelling 89-7-7 CARNES, Henry, 30, farmer, KY . Deborah, 25, KY . Elizabeth, 6, KY ***** . Martha J., 4, KY . Mary D., 2, KY . Silvana, 8 mo's, KY **This is why some Carnes researchers believe Henry's daughter married James Meredith, but I think it was my Grandma because of her second marriage bond. I hope I have not confused you, but want you to see why some think it was not my Elizabeth at all that married James Meredith. I can be certain if it was my own Grandma Elizabeth she fibbed about her age in one of these marraiges or she wouldn't have aged 5 yrs in 22 monthes! Take care, Carolyn
