This may be of interest to some, Virgil Hammons obit states he was buried at the Hammons Cemetery at Girdler. This is also known as the Girdler Cemetery and just recently I found a much older obituary that calls the same cemetery the Jones Cemetery at Girdler. Cassy. Mr. Virgil Hammons, 63, of Girdler, Ky. passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003 in Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. He was a son of the late Robert and Mettie Belle Hicks Hammons. He was a member of Dripping Springs Baptist Church and a farmer. He is survived by his sister, Pearl Hammons Goley. Services were conducted Sunday, Jan. 12 at Dripping Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky Broughton and the Rev. Crit Messer officiating. Burial was in Hammons Cemetery at Girdler.
