VA (equates to birth year of 1775) . Mary, 29, b. KY (this was a dau.) You see my gg-grandfather, Cornelius Alexander TAYLOR, b. 1794; d. 1874 was ALSO born in Wythe Co., VA. Also, Jesse TAYLOR, b. 1792 mar. to Nancy GREENE TAYLOR was born in Grayson Co., VA (which was one county formed from the other including Wythe). It changed between the time Jesse was b. and Cornelius was born. Living next to the TAYLOR family were the DICKENSON's and there were marriages there between the family of James CRANK , age 71 from VA and his wife, Eleanore/Ellender TAYLOR CRANK, 68, from VA . Ellender is said to be the sister of my gg-grandfather, Cornelius Alexander TAYLOR. Their first born child, Cornelius CRANK gave pension testimony that he was a small boy and present with his parents are the wedding in 1814 between Cornelius A. TAYLOR and Sarah Ann WALKER TAYLOR. Living very close to David TAYLOR and the DICKINSONs is William McCARROLL, age 87, NC mar. to Elizabeth TAYLOR, 71 b. VA. This is said to be the sister also of my gg-grandfather, Cornelius. They had earlier on lived in Claiborne co., TN. In 1811 (I think), when Joshua BINGHAM went off with Mary DePRIEST (dau. of Martha Patsy TAYLOR and Robert DePRIEST), it is said they went to Claiborne Co. and were married in the home of William and Elizabeth TAYLOR McCARROLL. My Cornelius can first be documented in abt. 1810 in the home of Joshua BINGHAM prior to and after his marriage to Mary DePRIEST per pension testimony. Martha Patsy(28 years older) is said by some to be another sister to Cornelius A. TAYLOR but could also have perhaps been his mother! We really don't know. In one old reconstructed Bible record we have, in one area, someone wrote that David TAYLOR was the father of Cornelius A. TAYLOR and then that was crossed out and someone else wrote that David TAYLOR was a brother and had married a BLEVINS. For sure there was some close kinship of one type or the other among these folks. I think we may all go to our graves without knowing the answer to the puzzles of who was the parent of who when it comes to our TAYLORs. One thing I have learned in genealogy is that when no one seems to have any answers to something that one would think they would, then possibly something is being hidden or not spoken about. There was a lot of "shame" being carried around in those hills . I highly suspect that whoever was the parent/s of Cornelius A. TAYLOR that they died very young and someone else reared him up or . . . he was illegitimate. The mystery continues. Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA
