I think the other observation I made was that "most likely" the father, John POTTER, had an earlier family somewhere and than married this Catherine. I don't know that for a fact but marrying at the approx. age of 50 was not the norm in those days. The earliest POTTER family that appears in Knox Co. is this one from the 1850 Knox: Dwelling 555-566 POTTER, Austin, 71, laborer, b. unknown (pauper) . Rutha, 50, KY . John C., 22, laborer, KY . Elizabeth, 15, KY . Louisa, 13, KY . Phebe A., 12, KY . James, 10, KY . Mary, 9, KY . Benjamin, 8, KY . Jane, 7, KY . Martha C., 5 mo's, KY By 1860, there are NO POTTERS listed in Knox Co.
