She was a member of the Artemus Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Baker. She is survived by one son, Paul Baker and wife Susie of Davis Bend; one sister, Juanita Mills of Dayton, Ohio; two grandchildren. Services were conducted in Hampton Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003 with the Rev. John Partin officiating. Hampton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Florena (Cecil) Crawford, 70, of Kay Jay, the daughter of the late Grady Cecil and Bessie (Crawford) Cecil, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003 at her home. She believed in the Baptist faith and was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Harle Crawford of Kay Jay; one son, Dennis Crawford and wife Aloggia of Aurora, Ind.; two sisters, Shirley Williams and husband Jim of Beckley, W. Va. and Faye Volpi and husband Joe of Artemus; four brothers, Lowell Cecil and wife Mary of Barbourville, Lonna Cecil and wife Marsha of Trosper, Michael Cecil and wife Kimberly of Holton, Ind. and Doyal Cecil and wife Bonnie of Arkansas; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services were conducted in Hampton Funeral Home Chapel Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003 with the Rev. Arnold Petrey and the Rev. Denvil Taylor officiating. Burial was in Lunsford Cemetery at Kay Jay. Mrs. Edna (Gray) Hobbs, 75, of Flat Lick, the daughter of the late Dewey and Julie (Mills) Gray, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003 in Rockcastle County Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was the widow of Charlie Hobbs. She is survived by her two daughters, Julie Warfield and husband Ronald and Reatha Hobbs, all of Flat Lick; two sons, J.D. Hobbs and wife Hazel and Gennie Hobbs, all of Flat Lick; one son-in-law, Otis Gambrel of Flat Lick; two sisters, Lena Rice of Bimble and Ruah Hubbard and husband Burchell of Trosper; six brothers, Leaman Gray, Delbert Gray, Chris Gray and wife June, Thomas Gray and wife Edith, Charlie Gray and wife Irene and Eugene Gray and wife Virgie, all of Flat Lick; fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Mr. Lee Ray Gray, 57, of Barbourville, Ky., a son of the late Zander and Myrtle (Asher) Gray, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003 in Knox County Hospital. He was a member of Candle Ridge Baptist Church and a disabled coal miner. He is survived by his wife, Loretta (Hubbard) Gray; three sons, the Rev. Tim Gray and wife Carry, Mike Gray and wife Julie and Jason Gray, all of Barbourville; one brother, Gary Gray and wife Linda, also of Barbourville; two sisters, Freda Gayle Bays and husband Charles of Artemus and Erma Goe and husband Ken of San Antonio, Texas; five grandchildren; one uncle, Paul Asher and wife Lois of Cincinnati, Ohio. Services were conducted Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003 in Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sam Moore and the Rev. Don Napier officiating. Burial was in Coles Branch Cemetery at Hammond. Mr. Lloyd Townsley, 57, of Bimble, Ky., a son of the late Dee and Mary Newman Townsley, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003 in Knox County Hospital. He was a member of the Boone Height Holiness Church and a retired coal miner. He is survived by his wife, Doris Townsley, Bimble; one daughter, Carla Townsley, Lexington; one stepdaughter, Melissa Dugger and husband Gary, Gray; two stepsons, Curtis Blevins and Matthew Blevins and wife Holly, Gray; two sisters, Vivian Smith and husband Denver, Barbourville and Barbara Hinkle and husband Ernest, Barbourville; two brothers, Frank Townsley and wife Lorraine, Bimble, and Edward Mills and wife Brenda, Corbin; four step grandchildren. (Jackson) Carty, 78, of Charlotte, Tenn, the daughter of the late William Jackson and Helen (Nolan) Jackson, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003 in Dickson County, Tenn. She believed in the Baptist faith and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kenneth Carty. She is survived by two sons, Bill Carty and wife Sharon of Charlotte, Tenn. and Pat Carty and wife Judy of Colorado Springs, Col.; one brother, Lloyd Jackson of Santa Barbara, Calif.; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Gene Gray, 74, of Barbourville, Ky., the son of the late Calloway and Sudie (Smith) Gray, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003 in Barbourville Nursing Home. He believed in the Baptist faith and was a retired coal miner. He is survived by two sisters, Katherine Gray of Bimble and Gladys Craft of Knightstown, Ind.; one brother, Marvin Gray and wife Irene of Barbourville. Services were conducted in Hampton Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003 with the Rev. Phillip Wynn and the Rev. Duke Hammons officiating. Burial was in Sowders Cemetery at Artemus. Tedders, 75, of Fariston Road, London, formerly of Knox County, a son of the late James Samuel Tedders and Mary Jane (Cobb) Tedders, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2003 at his home. Mr. Franklin Yeager, 63, of Barbourville, the son of the late James "Jim" Yeager and Linda Rice Yeager, passed away in Barbourville Nursing Home Friday, Jan. 17, 2003. He is survived by his sisters, Beaulah Hubbard and husband Charlie of Detroit, Mich., Faye Hatfield of Louisiana, Evelyn Buttery and husband Cecil of Sharp Gap, Barbourville, Marie Grubb and husband Coy of Boone Height, Betty Woolum and husband J.T. of Brush Creek; his brothers, James Herbert Yeager and wife Mary of Baily Switch, J.B. Walker, 92, of Cincinnati, Ohio, a son of the late Otis and Myrill Morgan Walker, passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2003 in Cincinnati. He was a member of Company 509 & CCC's during World War II. He was a heavy equipment operator. He is survived by his wife Alma Lay Walker of Cincinnati, Ohio; one son, Bruce Walker and wife Barbara of Chillicothe, Ohio; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
