What happened was it was late and I referred to Margaret as a MESSER vs. being a GAMBREL. Then I went on to correct myself in a response that is all part of this same chain. I located the William SIMPSON family in Harlan Co. in 1850 and 1860 and you'll find it in the chain. So, now my question is: "To which GAMBREL family did Margaret belong". I'm assuming it was one who was in Harlan Co. early on. I believe they married in 1857 or so in Harlan Co. (they being William and Margaret GAMBREL SIMPSON). And, it occurred to me since William SIMPSON and his Margaret GAMBREL named their son, Harlan/Harle, that it "might" be because there was some association with ol' Harland GAMBREL. I have absolutely no idea what that association might be; however, or even if it is true. We'll get these folks all figured out one day. Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA
