Marriage Book A (1800 - 1850), some of the records state it is the marriage bond. When the information was available to them, additional information was added such as who the minister was, who a parent was, who the bondsman was, etc. etc. The old records I have seen at the courthouse are in registry style format with no actual marriage record in most cases. The Marriage Book A that I have was done by the Knox Co. Genealogical Society, Inc. Book A was first published piecemeal in their publication entitled "Kentucky Kinfolk". Then a few years back, it was republished in the format I have. At that time they stated "We have checked the original records that are available and we are relying on a transcription of this marriage book by the DAR which was presented to the Knox Co. Court Clerk in 1972. We are grateful for this transcription since the majority of the original records are missing. These old records are hard to read and the originals which we were able to locate were in very poor condition. I feel they were in poor condition when the DAR transcribed them so you may find some errors but hopefully this will be a good resource for your research." - - signed Maxine HUMFLEET JONES, Pres.
