    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Honeycutt, Ray, Hubbard, Valentine, Click Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CBB.2ACE/5860.2.1 Message Board Post: Ada, I've not been able to find anything past the 1850 Knox Co. Census records. This is the family in the 1850 records: Dwelling 101-103 HONEYCUT, David, 60, farmer, b. NC . Nancy, 55, NC . Nancy, 29, NC . Rachel, 27, NC . John, 19, NC . Allen, 21, farmer, NC One researcher gave me this info: David may have came to Knox Co. KY from NC before 1850. He stayed in Knox Co. until 1880 when he moved to Clay Co. KY to live with his daughter Sarah and her husband John Lewis. He may have lived in Buncombe County, North Carolina. This is all the info that I have on David and Nancy. Joann

    3. I think Nathan Honeycutt was a brother to my grgrgrandmother Sarah "Sallie" Honeycutt. Her daughter, Nancy Lewis was my grgrandmother, who married Clay Jackson in Clay Cty., Ky. I traced, sometime ago, David, their father back to Yancy Co., N. C. to about 1790 or figured that was when David was born. I first found David Honeycutt in Wake County, NC in the 1840 census, roll 374, Page 271. He is listed as head of household with 2 males 5-10 yrs., 1 male 40-50 yrs. old, 1 female 15-20, and 1 female 40-50. By 1850 I found the same record as below on the previous listing. Sarah Honeycutt Lewis is about 29-31 by this time and married to John Lewis living in Clay County, Ky. Nathan Honeycutt is living 2 houses away, Family #105: Nathan Honeycutt 30 farmer b. N.C. Joicy 28 b. N.C., Rachael 8 b. N.C., Johnathon 7 b. N.C., John 5 b. N.C., Nancy 3 b. N.C., David 3/12 b. N.C. I really do feel Nathan is a brother to my grgrandmother Sallie considering the ages and the continued use of the same family names. On an earlier census-1820 in N.C. there are only 3 Honeycutts in the area, and one is named Nathan-possibly David's father, David, and this younger Nathan possibly named after his grandfather? By 1860-House #614-Stinking Creek, Knox Cty., Ky.-P.O. Flatlick, Ky. listing is as follows: David Honeycutt-farmer 58 b. Ky. est. birth 1801 Nancy 58 b. Ky. est. birth 1801 Nancy 35 b. Ky. est. birth 1824 Rachael 30 b. Ky. est birth 1829 Julia Watters 17 b. Ky. est. birth 1842 Don't know who this is House #615 Nathan Honeycutt 43 farmer b. Ky. Joice 43 b. Ky Elizabeth 17 b. Ky. James 18 b. Ky. By 1870 David and Nathan Honeycutt are still in Knox Cty, Ky. Subdivision #93 PO Flatlick, Ky. David Honeycat(note spelling) 72 farmer b. NC est. b. 1798 Nancy 82 b. NC est. b. 1864 Melton 2 b. NC est. b. 1868 By the 1870 Clay County Census Dist. #32 Precinct #8 Post Office-Manchester, Ky. House #17 lists all the John Lewis family and Rachael is living there by the last name of Honeycutt as does her child. I don't know if she is my grgrandmother's daughter before her marriage to John Lewis or possibly a sister? Family tells me my grgrandmother Nancy Lewis was a Honeycutt. By the 1880 Clay Cty. census John Lewis is 60 b. 1840 NC farmer Big Creek, Clay Cty. Ky. (his father's birthplace is listed as Tn.) (his mother's birthplace is listed as NC.) Sarah Lewis 58 b. 1822 NC keeping house (father's birthplace listed as NC) (mother's birthplace listed as NC) (Father's name-David Honeycutt) Sarah Honeycutt Lewis is found on the 1900 Clay Cty. census living with Liza and John York on Sextons Creek age 74 with an est. b. of 1826. She is listed as Mother-in-law. By 1910 Clay Cty., Ky. census she is still living with Liza and John York in Burning Springs and is listed as the mother-in-law again. On the Ky. Death Index she is listed as having d. 23 Feb. 1916 age 88, Clay. Cty., Ky. Hope this helps some! I will be out of town for a couple weeks. Keep in touch with whatever you find on the Honeycutts!
