It is not that I am so familiar with this family but they would not be showing up on the Kentucky Birth Indexes. I just sent an update of what I found on the KBI to the query originator. For example, Dorothy was b. 2-26-1923 in Bell Co. with most all of the others accounted for in Knox Co. The following is mostly just me following my intuition (no proof) on this family: 1910 Knox Co. - Indian Creek - Flat Creek Road Dwelling 123-123 BUCHANAN (was indexed as BUCHANAR and corrected by someone on the Index), John, 68, "married 2 times", mar. 22, b. KY; father b. KY; mother b. NC . .Belle, 48, mar. 1, mar. 22, 7 born; 5 living, b. kY; father b. NC; mother b. KY . .Ben H., 21, single, b. KY . .Amy, 18, single, b. KY . .Girtie H., 16, single, b. KY . Donnie?, 14, dau, b. KY . .Charley, 9, son, b. KY * * * (very possibly him) 1900 Whitley Co., KY - Rockhold Dwelling 280-288 BUCHANAN, John, 50, "married 13 yrs", b. KY . .Belle, 30, mar. 13 yrs, 6 born; 4 living, b. KY . .Ben H., 11, b. KY . .Amy, 7, b. KY . .Hazel, 6, dau, b. KY . .Nannie, 3, dau, b. KY . .George, 20 , son (must be from lst marriage and note the month and year of birth - - December 1879!!! - this will become important later. NOTE: On Ancestry.com, some other researcher has that "a" John BUCHANAN married a Nancy Abigail FLOYD in Knox Co., KY in the 1860's. I cannot locate this marriage in Knox Co., however. Going backwards to the 1880 census: 1880 "Caldwell Co., Missouri - Davis Dwelling 79-90 BUCHANAN, John, 39, b. KY; parents b. KY . .Nancy A., 33, b. KY; parents b. NC . Margaret, 17, b. KY . .Berry E. or C., 15, b. KY . .Nancy J., 11, b. KY . .Wm., J., 8, b. KY . Sophia A., 7, b. KY . .George D. , 6 months (b. December), b. MO I have no idea if this is the same John or not but it sure is interesting that there is a George BUCHANAN b. Dec. 1879 on the 1900 and a George 6 months (b. Dec.) in MO on the 1880. And, the 1900 says this John BUCHANAN has married two times. And, as of the 1910 Knox Co., he has a 9 year old son, Charley. Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA p.s.
