This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: BAKER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CBB.2ACE/5892.1.1 Message Board Post: Do you know in what area of Knox Co Wm Baker & Elizabeth Dean settled? Also, do you happen to know anything about the heritage of Wm Baker? Quite a few Deans settled at Tinsley at the mouth of Greasy Creek in what used to be Knox Co before Bell Co was formed in 1867. I descend from Andrew Baker who is a son of Rev. Andrew Baker, Sr and Elizabeth Avant. One of his sons lived in what remains Knox Co today. There are Deans still living at Tinsley today. I believe King Sol Warren in his History of Knox Co mentions that some relatives of President Lincoln were notified when he died and were invited to attend the services. I might be wrong on the specifics, but there was some type of communication between them. I'm guessing that they're your family.
I am trying to place the Rev Andrew Baker you mentioned married to Elizabeth Avant. I am showing an older Rev Andrew Baker b abt 1765 married to a 'Molly' Boling/Bowling and some younger Andrew Bakers. Could you please tell me more about the Rev Andrew Baker you mention. I would like to get him placed correctly in my Baker data-base. What is the age of your Andrew Baker, son of Rev Andrew Baker? Anything to possibly help me pin down the correct Rev Andrew Baker married to Elizabeth Avant. Was Elizabeth's maiden name Avant? Thanks for your help and sharing. Andrew Baker, son of Rev Andrew Baker and Elizabeth Avant, was born on 18 February 1777, according to Rev Andrew Baker's family bible. It's not been proven that Rev Andrew Baker is a son of Andrew Esquire Baker and Mary Mollie Bowling, but a lot of people believe that theory. Rev Andrew Baker was born in 1749 in Grayson Co VA and died on 24 Sep 1815 in Lee Co VA where he's buried in the Robt Clark Cem in Jonesville. Andrew Esquire Baker was born in 1720 in Chester Co PA and died after 1780 in Grayson Co VA. Elizabeth, Rev Andrew Baker's wife's maiden name is Avant. She was born on 12 September 1753 in Brunswick Co VA. Her parents are Peter Avant & Amy Massie. The story is that they were of French heritage and disapproved of her marriage to Andrew Baker. She didn't see them for several years after she married him. I hope this information helps, and let me know if I can help you more.
