RESPONSE: Hello, I cannot answer the question you pose but you can add another marriage for old George MESSER, s/o Ewell and Mary Elizabeth BINGHAM MESSER. Knox Co. Marriage Bond Book I, Page 390 (it does indicate marriage not signed but often that didn't mean anything) May 14, 1904 Groom - 2nd marriage Bride - 2nd marriage at Artemus, KY MESSER, George, 30, b. Knox Co. father: Ewell MESSER mother: Elizabeth MESSER to: Bettie HUDSON, 32, b. Knox Co. (don't know what she started out as or if it was HUDSON) I have the date for the Belle TAYLOR marriage but could never quite figure out who her parents were. And, I have Mag POINDEXTER, age 23, dau. of James and Sarah POINDEXTER married on 27 Nov 1894. So, from strictly a marriage standpoint, they were NOT YET OFFICIALLY married when this Robert MESSER was born, assuming his birth year of 1893 is correct. I see where on his WW1 Draft Reg. he stated he was b. in Bell Co. in 1893. On the 1900 Knox Co.: Dwelling 65-68 MESSER, George, head, b. 1-1870, 30, mar. 6 yrs, b. kY; parents b. KY . .Maggie, wife, b. 1-1870, 30, mar. 6 yrs, 5 born; 5 living, b. kY; parents b. KY . .Robert, son, b. 9-1893, 6, b. KY . .Sarah, dau, b. 12-1895, 4, b. KY . . Georgia, dau, b. 2-1897, 3, b. KY . .Jimmie, son, b. 2-1897, 3, b. KY Interestingly, there are TWO KINDER families living 4 and 5 dwellings removed from George MESSER as of the 1900. However, in both cases, the wives state they have had a certain number of children and in both cases, that number is in that household. In 1920, Robert was already married with a wife and had 5 children. At the time of his WW1 Draft Reg., he stated he had 4 chidren with wife, Elizabeth "Lizzie" SHORTER. I am assuming you have ordered his death cert and that it doesn't have any different information on it regarding his parentage. This is a difficult one as were so many of the circumstances of some of our ancestors. I also did not see a record of Social Sec. for him. Thanks for the info. George may have been married about as many times as his father, Ewell! I have ordered but not yet received Robert's death certificate. Of course, I will continue seeking a birth certificate as well. I believe his birth and death dates are correct as that is what is on his gravestone. Thanks again.
