Elizabeth Smith has been the most impossible of all my ancestors to research - obviously, the name is very common and birth, marriage & death records for her have been hard to come by. Even her grave is unmarked (and the funeral home has no record of it) and my father was there for the burial. Your research confirms Elizabeth Smith's parents for me, finally!!!!! I believe now she is actually a Nancy Elizabeth (N.E. Smith). I will obviously do some more research when I am in Barbourville this coming weekend. I think the Newton Smith may be a different one from yours. He was an Albert Newton Smith (from Tenn) married to a Nancy Jane....unless he remarried at some point. Thank you again!! This was my one major road block in my ancestral line. Do you know if you can still purchase a copy of the Knox Co. Marriage Records anywhere?
