    3. There is a mountain range between part of the county line between Bell and Knox counties. The Cumberland River runs through both Bell and Knox counties.     3. Connie, Thanks for the information. The maps I have aren't the best and I can't find any better. I'm guessing that the Cumberland River rises in Letcher county and flows through Harlan before it reaches Bell county but I'm not certain. I am trying to research the Johnson families of SE Kentucky who lived along the Cumberland but I'm not sure where to begin and where to end!
