RESPONSE: Hello, This is NOT my family; however, I am curious as to where your John Henry GARLAND and family were in 1900. I am not seeing him in Knox Co., KY. Then by the time of the 1910, this "appears" it could be her but she is now a widow or so states. 1910 Whitley Co., KY Dwelling ____ GARLAND, Anna S., 35, widow, 6 born; 6 living, b. KY . . James B., 17, son, b. KY . .Ernest, 14, son, b. KY . .Amanda E., dau, 13, b. KY . .Rosa M., 8, dau, b. KY . .Charlie, 5, son, b. KY . .Flora, 2, dau, b. KY * * I thought this might be her because of a death record I found for a Flora Ethel GARLAND buried at Popular Creek Cem., shows she was b. 2-12-1908 and that she died 9-7-1919 in Knox Co., KY. It gives her parents as: John H. GARLAND and Annie DAVIS. She died from dysentry. On my book of transcribed Knox Co. marriages, it states that John H. was born somewhere in TN and that his father was also born in TN. As of the 1880, neither John H. or J. H. GARLAND are present. There are also death records for: Isaac GARLAND who formerly lived in Knox Co., KY ; who was born 1869 and died at the asylum at Lexington, Fayette Co., KY on 7-29-1911. States he had lobar pneumonia and had a secondary condition referred to as: chronic mania. They had very little information on his and the death record shows no info on parents or wife but states he was married. Then there is the Wiley GARLAND who died in Knox Co., KY who was b. 6-10-1840 and who died on 1-26-1912 of heart failure. It states he was born in Clayborne (Claiborne Co., TN) and further it gives that this Wiley GARLAND's father was also an Isaac GARLAND. Hi Joyce, As you said he is not listed I have never been able to find john Henry garland listed. But the 1910 shows Anna garland as a widow is right. John Henry died sometime between 1908 and 1910 and his grave stone only has his name on it. Etch or cut into the stone. Flora was the last child born to john Henry and Anna in 1908 that's why we know that he died between 1908 and 1910 with Anna as a widow.and I can't find anyone in the family that knows anything about john Henry garland.
