I do have this census and marriage information. As you can tell Abner Nelson was a very interesting person. I have been trying to unravel his story for years. My husband is a direct decendant from his line through his son James Green NELSON and Milinda Lucinda TAYLOR. Abner Nelson was born abt. 1793 in either VA or NC (some sources say Grayson, VA) and died 21 May 1880 in Knox, KY. He is buried in Liberty Cemetery in Knox, KY without a marker. Abner had three wives and sixteen children (to my knowledge). It is proported that he married a Lucy OSBORN on 4 May 1815 in Grayson, VA and they had: Nancy ca. 1827, Hiram ca. 1831, Isaac ca. 1834, Jonathan ca. 1836, & Sally ca. 1838. Between the move from Indiana to KY these children seem to vanish. Abner married second on 30 Dec 1830 in Ashe, NC to Nancy Elleanor VANOVER and they had: James Green 1839, Alvin 1841, Anna 1842, Lee 1846, William ca. 1848, Polly-Olly 1850 Wabash, Indiana, Rachel Ann 1852 Wabash, IND, and Mary b. ca. 1863 in Knox, KY. Abner married third Thursie Ann REYNOLDS on 02/03 Sep 1873 in Barboursville, Knox, KY and they had: Abner B. "Coon" NELSON Jr. 1874, and Ruth/Rutha K. NELSON 1876.
