    3. The Jesse Lewis to Martha Nunn is one of mine. I wondered if this Robert was any relation to Jesse or not. I haven't really looked into that branch much, as Martha was a sister to my great grandmother. That particular bunch is a rough bunch to research as they moved around a lot and seemed to marry a lot. My great grandmother is about the only one of them that remained in place. Martha was married at least 3 times that I can tell, and according to my father, he thought she ran a house of "ill-repute" at one time. His family did not say much about Martha when he was growing up. His great grandmother lived with his family when she died and is buried in Barbourville City Cemetery in the Hughes Family plot.

    3. Hi Nancy, thanks for your recent message. I thought your email name looked familiar and went to my notebook on the Lewis family and found our correspondence back in 2002. Yes, the Jesse Lewis who is a son of Robert H. and Elizabeth is the person who married Martha Nunn on September 15, 1858 in Laurel County (Marriage record Laurel Co. BB131) Jesse was born about 1848 (do you happen to have the excact date - I'd like to add that to my material). The birth date and death date and parents of Martha is information you sent me. The little I know about them as a couple is that they were on the 1870 census and are listed as living with Jesse's father, Robert H. Lewis, 68, a farmer. The others in the household were Jesse's younger brothers, George M., 17, and Robert G., 4. Jesse and Martha had a son, William H., 1/12 -- born May of that year. I would like to know if Jesse died before Martha remarried or if they divorced. Also wonder what happend to little William H -- need to look at some later records for him I guess. I have the cemetery book for S.E. Laurel County -- wonder if I should get the other books. I guess I really don't know very much about what part of the county my ancestors lived in. > The Jesse Lewis to Martha Nunn is one of mine.
