First beginning with Thursann BROWN, dau. of Adaline BROWN who was born abt. 1877 in Knox Co. On the 1880 Knox Co., KY Adeline BROWN is in the home of her parents, Thursann BINGHAM BROWN and Steve BROWN. I don't know where her children were. She was to have had: l. George NORTON b. Jan 1873 by George NORTON and 2. Thursann b. 1877 and Cordelia b. May 1883. These two were by Elijah HOBBS. Adeline is in Dwelling 65-69 and in Dwelling 68-72, there is Elijah HOBBS married to a Margaret with several kids. Now we move forward to the 1900 Knox Co. Dwelling 64-70 BROWN, Adeline, 50, single, 3 born; 3 living, b. kY; father b. VA; mother b. KY . .George, 24, son, b. KY (by George NORTON) . .Sarah Ann, 22, dau, b. KY (assume this is Thursann by Elijah HOBBS By the time of the 1910 Sarah is married to Luther PATTERSON and living on Middle Fork Road of Upper Stinking Creek Dwelling 21-21 PATTERSON, Luther, 21?, head, b. KY (he married more than once to other BROWNS) . .Sarah, 30, 3 born; 2 living, b. KY . .Frank, 16, son, b. KY (said to be fathered by Frank WARREN, Sr.) . .Colson, 7, b. 1902, b. KY (Colson was said to be fathered by Silas COMBS When she married, her marriage record gives her as Thursday Ann BROWN and gives her mother as Adaline BROWN. Gives his parents as: Wilkerson PATTERSON and Lucy Ann LEWIS PATTERSON. On the 1920 Knox Co. - Hubbard Dwelling 24-24 Sarah seems to have finally settled on the given name of: Thursann: PATTERSON, Luther, 46, b. KY . .Thursan, 47, wife, b. KY . .Colson, 17, son, b. KY . .Sudie, 8 yrs 3 months (fathered by Luther PATTERSON b. Sep 1911 in Knox Co., KY) DEATH RECORD FOR THURSAANN BROWN PATTERSON Age: 40; birthdate: unknown Death date: 2-5-1932 in Knox Co., KY; gives mother as: Adline BROWN; husband: Luther PATTERSON; mistakenly gives her father as: George PATTERSON when we have earlier been told it was: Elijah HOBBS. As for your Sarah Jane BROWN, it interesting that when she married in Clay Co., KY on 8-16-1910, File 35 the record says: EDWARDS, Pleas to Sarah Jane MESSER NOTE: Did Sarah Jane BROWN had an earlier marriage to a MESSER and then a marriage to Pleas EDWARDS? On the 1920 Clay Co. Dwelling 160-160 EDWARDS, Pleas, 27, head, b. KY . .Jane, 30, wife, b. KY . .Mossie, 14, dau, b. KY (this child would have been born outside of the 1910 marriage to Pleas EDWARDS so who knows perhaps the father was Silas COMBS) . .Maudie, 8, da, b. KY I can tell you that on the 1930, Mossie shows up married to Tip EDWARDS and the KBI shows that the child, Ottis, age 6 was b. 10-12-1923 in Clay Co. and her maiden name was listed as: Mossie COMBS. Others born were: Colson EDWARDS 2-1-1935 in Clay; Alta EDWARDS b. 6-22-1943 Earl EDWARDS b. 6-13-1946 and she was a Mossie COMBS on those births. As of the 1930, she had given birth to Alice, age 3 and a David age 6 months. . .McKinley, 6, b. KY (b. 2-15-1914 in Clay) . .Lucy J., 3 yrs , b. KY (b. 6-10-1916 in Clay) Also later had: William EDWARDS in Clay b. 11-2-1928. William died of accidental drowning in Clay Co. on 6-27-1949. Parents listed as: Sarah Jane BROWN and Pleas EDWARDS Have you checked Mossie's death cert to see who is listed as her mother and father. That is where these things usually show up if no where else. I cannot locate Silas (any spelling) in 1900 and 1910 in Knox, Clay, Leslie, Bell Co.'s Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA p.s. Who were the parents of your Sarah Jane BROWN MESSER? EDWARDS?
