I have these folks in my data base. I would HIGHLY suggest you make some postings to the Harlan Co., KY Message Board. There are numerous HOWARD researchers on that Board. On the 1930 Harlan Co. Dwelling 158-160 HOWARD, Dewey, 32, mar. at 26, b. 1898, b. KY - coal mine laborer . .Mary, 22, mar. at 17, b. KY I don't see any children for this Mary FRYE having HOWARD children on the KBI. Sometimes that means nothing though. At the same time, here is what I do see: These are HOWARD children born to maiden name, Rosa/Rose MOWERY in Harlan Co., KY HOWARD, John D. b. 7-14-1927 HOWARD, Inez b. 7-17-1931 HOWARD, Delores b. 7-31-1936 HOWARD, Norma L. b. 8-29-1933 This is most probably that Rosa Lee MOWERY. She was born to Nancy HILL on 4-22-1915 in Whitley Co., KY Vol. 41, Cert 20447 There were a number of Dewey HOWARDS in Harlan Co. so perhaps this was a different one. Having said that, I do have another interesting connection to Cornelia CARMICAL (various spellings). SEE BELOW 1880 Harlan Co. Fed. Census Dwelling 113-113 NOTE: Not for sure but, this could be the family CARMICHAEL's Lucy married:???? CARMICHAEL, Isaac, 49, b. NC . . Elizabeth, 53, b. NC, wife . . Cornelia, 16, b. NC, dau . . Health Dept. shows that her parents were Daniel HOWARD and Clarinda CHAPPELL HOWARD. SEE CARMICAL , Sanders for the 1900 Harlan Co. Fed. Census 1920 Bell Co. Fed. Census Dwelling 109-110 - Cary Precinct #8 CARMICAL, Samuel L.?, 55, b NC; parents b. NC, occup: blacksmith and coal miner . . Lucy, wife, 46, b. KY; parents b. KY; occuP general farmer (this is Lucy HOWARD TAYLOR) . . Clay, son, 17, b. KY; father b. NC; mother b. VA, coal mine driver (S. L.'s son) LOCK, America, "stepdau", 20, b. KY (America TAYLOR LOCK) . . Walter "son-in-law", 24 IDOL, Dora, "sister-in-law", 37 (not sure who this is) The Cornelia CARMICAL b. NC who was married to Samuel HOWARD (who traces back to my James B. HOWARD and Nancy BALL, my ggg-grandparents) was the SISTER to Sanders CARMICAL who married Lucy HOWARD (dau. of Daniel HOWARD). Lucy HOWARD was married in the fall of 1895 to the much older Harrison TAYLOR who was my g-grandfather b. 1836; shot and killed in 1904. They had 3 children who were half siblings to my grandfather, Garrett TAYLOR b. 1872; d. 1954 in Bell Co., KY. It is a small world, is it not?
