They seemed to move arount a lot. Here is what I have for sources: 1850 Federal Census of Dist 22 Taylor, Iowa Nancy and 4 children 4 girls. Must have had two boys before 1852. His brother Isaac (Iasiah) Coffman is living with them. That explains his absence from his wife and his Mom and Dad. 1852 Iowa State Census of Jackson, Taylor County, Iowa There are eight in the family 5 females and 3 males Nancy is here. I am guessing that Nancy died in Iowa and he went home to his family in Savannah, Andrew, Missouri 1853 second marriage to Elizabeth Draper on 20 nov 1853 in Savannah, Andrew, Missouri 1860 Federal Census of Grape Grove, Ray County, Missouri A new wife and five new children. Plus the names of the children in the 1852 Census. Living with spouse, Elizabeth and 11 children (America, M. J., Julia, Sarah, Daniel, Levi, Joseph, Catherine, Pleasant, Leah, Sarah.) (LDS film #0803643) 1870 CENSUS, Grape Grove, Ray, MO: "Seymore", 52 years, born KY, farmer, $500. Living with wife, Elizabeth and 5 children (Joseph, Frances, Savannah, William B., George) . 1880 CENSUS, District 128, Grape Grove, Ray, MO, page 277B: "S. COFFMAN", 62 years, born KY, father born TN, mother born KY, farmer. Living with wife, Elizabeth and 3 sons (Joseph, William, George). Knox Co, KY, Tax List: "Seymore COFFMAN" listed 1846; "Saymore COFFMAN" listed 1847. Ray Co, MO, Tax List: "Saymore COFFMAN" listed 1876. Knox Co, KY, Marriage Index: "Seymore COGGMAN" and Nancy HOSKINS, 20 Dec 1842. Ceremony performed by William HOPPER. (page 39) Also: Seymour COFFMAN and Nancy HOSKINS, 19 Dec 1844; bondman, Daniel COFFMAN. US GenWeb: "Seymour COFFMAN" was elected as Justice of the Peace, Taylor Co, IA, in February, 1851.
