    1. [KYKNOX] Looking for Crawford in Knox County
    2. I'm trying to find a France Crawford, possibly Francis Crawford, who was a resident in Knox County sometime between 1850 and 1900. The only information I have on him is this: He married a Molly Faulkner and one of their children was a Dora Crawford, her date of birth being December 26, 1878. I have hit a brick wall with this person. -- Tina "When I make a mistake, I get frustrated. 1. [KYKNOX] School Censuses in Knox County...
    2. Sharon Wilson
    3. Dear Cassy, Happy New Year! Thank you for all you do for genealogy. We would be up the creek for sure, without good people like you and all your helpers. I was looking at the Knox school censuses yesterday and realized I had no idea what generated them. I noticed when I found my own relatives that "children" included young men and women who were as old as 19. Both of my parents completed their educations with graduation from the eighth grade, and none of my older relatives attended school in their late teens. Actually, my own mother was married by the time she was 19. I know some people might have attended school at that age, but it could not have been common, could it? What was the purpose of these censuses? Can you tell me? How were they taken? Did the census taker go to the homes and list everyone under a certain age? I am just curious about this, and I hope you know the answers. Thanks for your help. Sharon Wilson
