    3. I'm not sure I agree with your information, but I haven't done much of this research myself maybe someone can help us here. This is my point of disagreement... This 1880 Census lists Thomas Mills and an Amanda not Alabama. Further evidence is the fact that Thomas and Alabama Jackson were not married until 1881 so it seems unlikely they would have all these children before then. There marriage record can be found as follows: Knox Co. Marriage Book BB and C: February 10, 1881 MILLS, Thomas to Alabama JACKSON By: A. Y. MESSER At: William JACKSON's Wit: Isaac MILLS and William JACKSON Also who is/was this America that is the sister-in-law? I don't beleive that Alabama had a sister America if so I don't have her. It doesn't seem to be the wife of any of Thomas brothers. and if we are to believe this Thomas Jr. it doesn't seem to be any of his brothers wives either. As for in the information showing Alabama Jackson as a Widow in the 1900 census this also lists Alabama's dob at 1848 but I believe that the Alabama that Married Thomas Mills was born about 1862. I don't understand why whe would go back to her maiden name either if she is a widower. If she had been divorced that would make more sense. This also states a Lindy as the wife of Smallwood and she was born in 1866Yet, she is not here in this 1880 census you posted. Again just some food for thought, Cassy. Now for Thomas Mills Jr. and Alabama Jackson Household: CENSUS RECORDS 1880 Knox County, ED #5, Mag #4, Brush Creek, Dwelling #360, Family #362, page 100A MILLS, Thomas, w/m, age 30, married, farm laborer, b. 2. Hello, My mother was the daughter of Floyd and Minnie Rice Hooker. Minnie was born on May 11, 1911 to Joseph and Nancy Lane Rice. Joseph Rice and Nancy Lane were married in Flat Lick, Knox County, Ky., on August 23, 1903. Joseph was born on Feb. 20, 1874 to Thomas and Mary/Mollie Rice in either Georgia, or Hopkinsville, Ky. I have not been able to find him on a census with his parents and it seems like he should have been listed with them on the 1880 census. He was supposed to have had a sister Molly. What I need to find is a listing someplace for a Thomas and Mary/ Mollie Rice with a son Joseph in the 1880 census. Thanks, Charlotte Miller

    3. RESPONSE: I am not related to your surname, JEROME, so far as I know. You might wish to consider joining http://www.ancestry.com in order to do some wide-spread searches to pinpoint your family. I have found their data bases very helpful. I did locate on the 1891 Voters List for Shelby Co., TN, the following JEROME persons: JEROME, Columbus JEROME, Rich JEROME, Hy JEROME, John JEROME, S. JEROME, N. JEROME, L. JEROME, John You might wish to check further in that county. It is difficult to know just how JEROME was spelled in the census records so you might try several different possible spellings or the soundex. I assume that Charles, Columbus and George JEROME were siblings who came to this country from France. If they came as adults, it would be unlikely you could locate their parents. Are you aware of where any of them died? Kentucky did not begin a formalized recordkeeping system for births and deaths until 1911. The dau., Josephine, do you know who and where she married? 3. First of all I apologize for the last message, but I do hate to let you know that you family history is wrong, Alabama Jackson Mills did NOT marry Thomas Mills, Sr. She married his son, Thomas, Mills, Jr. which is evidenced by the 1880 census of Knox County, KY. I realize the 1900 Census of Knox County has Cleveland, Axie, Hugh, Mary and Ruth listed as his children, but is it possible that they are his grandchildren? His is listed as a widower, just as he was in 1880.
