Fay, There is no Nancy Robinson listed in the Wofford Cemetery in the Whitley County Graveyard Books. However, there are 74 graves there without readable markers in that cemetery. Could she have been buried by another first name? Can someone e-mail me and let me know what the name of the cemetery is on Roaring Fork where Judge Bingham is buried. I am going to post those photos from that cemetery on my web page, but don't know what the name of the cemetery is. Thanks, Cassy. foe3643@mac.com -- Please make note of new e-mail address foe3643@tombstonezero.net within a month or so when Dan has time he is going to put my tombstone page online so you don't need a password and I can expand as needed without myfamily.com, in the meantime we are switching e-mail accounts to correspond with my new web address. :-) PS the new web address will be www.tombstonezero.net

Joyce, Thank you. I think this is the correct Leonard, just can't place him with the family. This is the correct Collins family and I should have stated that. Mariah Collins Messer's death certificate states that her father was John Collins and mother was Nancy Asher. Thanks again, Cassy. RESPONSE: Cassy, I don't believe it is the Leonard MESSER, s/o James F. MESSER and Catherine "Kitty" CARNES. That Leonard was b. January 18, 1887 and d. Dec. 7, 1918. As of the 1910, he is still with his wife, Tressie WARREN. There is another Leonard MESSER b. in Bell Co. but he was not born until Jan. 1, 1911. Please pardon me if you receive this on more than one list: I'm posting it everywhere I can think of for this footloose family! I am interested in trying to clear up some loose ends in my Slone/ Sloan line. Samuel Slone (it's spelled differently every time I see it) was born in Harlan Co. KY in 1825, son of Thomas Slone & Barthena Brock. He married 1st Elizabeth Clark, daughter of Alexander Spotswood Clark and Anna Vandeventer. Samuel & Elizabeth were married about 1850. They had 6 (?) children: 1. William J. Slone 2. Ann J. 3. John Charles Breckinridge 4. Ellen 5. Nancy 6. Mary Elizabeth Elizabeth Clark Slone died 12 Jul 1861 of typhoid fever. Samuel remarried a widow by the name of Susan in 1865 in Lee County, VA. Samuel is found in the 1860 census in Lee Co. VA. In 1870, he is in the Flat Lick precinct of Knox Co. KY. In 1880 he is in Menifee Co., KY, and in 1900 & 1910 he is found in Laurel Co. KY in the town of Pittsburg. He died later in 1910. Here are the loose ends: 1. Did Elizabeth Clark die in 1861 or 1862? I have trouble reading the microfilm copy that I have access to. 2. When preceisely was Mary Elizabeth born? Again, the microfilm is difficult, but it looks like she was born 7 Mar 1861 or 1862. Elizabeth is listed as her mother, Samuel as father. Residence is listed as Wallen's Creek, Lee Co. VA. (Mary Elizabeth is listed on 1870 census as age 8. Died in Menifee Co. KY in 1877). 3. Are there any tax records that might establish when Samuel moved from Lee county to Knox Co. KY? Does anyone know with what side of the War their sympathies might have rested? 4. Does anyone know what happened to the daughters: Ann J., Ellen, & Nancy? Mary Elizabeth died in 1877. 5. Does anyone have a record of William J. Slone's marriage? I have his birthdate as Feb. 1851, but there are sssssssssssoooooooooo many Will/Bill/etc Slone or Sloans! John C.B. Slone is my direct line, so I'm pretty well fixed on his info. His descendants married into some of the following families: Spears, Crowe, Noe, Carpenter, Irons, Brate, Palmer and many others. Any & all help gratefully appreciated & will be happy to share info. Pat Hobson
Connie, I don't know if this is of any help to you. I have two connections to Barney McFarland, found in the Knox County Marriage Books. 4 OCT 1847 Barnabus McFarland and Sarah Ann Mitchell married by Minister R. B. Barton (Knox County Marriage Book A) 28 APR 1870 William J. Anderson (my husband's grandfather) married to Mary Ann McFarland at Barney McFarland's, first marriage for both. Jesse: age 21, resident Knox Cty. KY, born Hawkins Co., TN, mother born NC; Mary Ann: age 19, resident Knox Cty. KY, born Knox Cty. KY, father born Whitley Co., KY ( Knox County Marriage Book BB & C). William J. Anderson is listed as a widower on the 1880 census. -Carol Anderson
