I would not even want to begin tracing the SMITH family. You may be able to get some additional help from some other SMITH researcher. Here are some births for Cecil (and there may be more than one of them so no way for me to know which ones are the correct ones): SMITH, Dorothy, b. 12-20-1924 in Knox co.; maiden name of mother: Cecil SMITH SMITH, Fanner I., b. 12-19-1924 in Knox Co.; maiden name of mother: Cecil SMITH NOTE: The dates on one of these is not correct if it is the same Cecil SMITH. SMITH, Martha, b. 3-10-1928 in Knox Co.; maiden name of mother: Cecil SMITH SMITH, Sallie, b. 5-23-1929 in Knox Co.; maiden name of mother: Cecil SMITH SMITH, Martha, b. 11-3-1937 in Knox Co.; maiden name of mother: Cecil SMITH SMITH, Marellar, b. 6-11-1938 in Knox Co.; maiden name of mother: Cecil SMITH SMITH, Farmer, Jr., b. 6-1-1935 in Knox co.; maiden name of mother: Cecil SMITH SMITH, R. You will have to have someone confirm this before we go any further. This would be your gg-grandparents on your grandfather's side: Obediah "Obie" MILLS, b. Jun 5, 1835 (s/o Isaac MILLS and Lavina HAMMONS) in Knox Co. who married Nov 22, 1860 in Knox Co. to Nancy BARGO. Obediah died bef. May 1927. Nancy BARGO was b. abt. 1845 in Knox Co. and died May 6, 1927 in Knox Co. Her parents were: John B. "Jack" BARGO and Elizabeth "Bettie" BAKER . I have 13 children for them beginning in 1862 and ending in 1887. One of their children was: Larkin MILLS, b. September 18, 1876 in Knox Co.; died May 27, 1921 in Knox Co.; He married February 24, 1899 in Knox Co. to Elizabeth/Eliza "Lizzie" D. MERIDA. Lizzie was a child of William "Bill" MERIDA and Catherine HAMMONS. I probably have 15 Nasby MILLS in my data base. And besides all of that, your grandmother, Mary was a MILLS prior to her marriage to James or Jim MILLS so they were related from the beginning. Most ALL of the MILLS of Knox Co. trace back to the early 1800's and to Nasby MILLS married to Easter HADDOCK. That is basically how we all start. You'll have to find out something else defining about this Nasby MILLS such as on which side does Nasby MILLS appear - - on your mother's or on your father's side. And, who were some of their siblings or your g-aunts and uncles, something to tie them to this particular Nasby MILLS. Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA

I have no marriage information on him. This family appears as follows on the 1910 Knox Co. En. Dist: 0107 Dwelling 0031 BROWN, Silas, 39, b. KY . Lizzie, wife, 36, KY . Eli, son, 20, Ky . Mollie, 19, Ky . Allie, 18, KY . Daw, 18, KY . Steve, 16, KY . Evin, 14, KY On the 1920 Knox co., Hubbard Township, Precinct #5 Dwelling 69-69 BROWN, Silas, 54 . Lizzie, wife, 43 . Evie, son, 21 Therefore, Daw left the household sometime bet. 1910 and 1920. I just don't see him living nearby his father. If your fiancee is a BROWN and has been in Knox Co. or his family has been in Knox Co.for a number of years, then it is almost 100% certain he is related in some way to the early 1800's BROWN family. With regard to dates, I don't necessarily have to have the specific date but something that lets me know where to begin. For example, your age , whatever it is and you can work backwards with a new generation abt. every 20 years. But, since I don't know if your grandparents or parents were old in the 1940's vs. the 1970's or 1980's, no time line can be established for them. Age is very important in any query. The census records transcribed only go to 1900. Others are on CD's and Ancestry.com which go up to 1930. So, we always attempt to get everyone back to where they can be picked up on some census record. For example, I am 63 yrs. old and my grandparents on both sides were born in the 1880's and 1870's. You are probably much younger and we are dealing with a different census situation. Joyce Taylor Collins La Palma, CA
