She was born Julia NEWBERRY in Virginia around 1844, married William MCGEE, had a daughter Nancy Jane MCGEE in 1882, and was living with her daughter and son-in-law Nancy Jane MCGEE COCHRAN and Larkin COCHRAN in Perry County, Kentucky in 1920. She shows up on the 1920 Census with them as Julia HESS (remarried, then widowed), age 76. The family moved to Laurel County soon after, and I find no mention of her. I don't know if she died in Perry County or after they moved to Laurel County. I believe one of her grandsons, William COCHRAN is buried in McHargue Cemetery in Laurel County. After William's murderer was killed, the COCHRAN family moved to Clark County, Indiana. Nancy and Larkin COCHRAN are buried in Mountain Grove Cemetery there. Thanks for any help you can give me. -Carol Anderson --part1_19b.cb8b302.2b1c92d9_boundary--
LIST: Does anyone have information on WILLIAM BULLOCK & ELIZABETH HALES married 5- 3-1827. I am interested in census records or Family Sheets as I keep thinking there is a family connection between my EDWARDS and the HALES family. Two of my Edwards ancestors lived in Hales' Households around 1850. Thanks for any information. Marie in CA. mbbollin@linkline.com

None of my stuff is on my computer (which I am still learning to use) but I will be happy to mail it to you--send me an address if you want it. What was your husbands grandfathers name?

Did you send them in a separate E-mail? You asked about Robert Clifton - he was born March 19, 1843 and died Nov 9, 1920. He married Elizabeth J. Cain (born Jan 1, 1853, died Jan 5, 1921, parents were Peter Cain & Mary Dorton). Robert & Elizabeth had 8 children and it has been very hard to find any info on them. One of their children, Everett (Eve), was my grandfather. He had a twin brother Sparks (we think) that I can find absolutely nothing about. This line has been very frustrating. I have death certificates for most of James and Sarah Ann Gregory's children (including William) but I have almost nothing on Robert Clifton's children - except for one son Frank, who moved to Utah, married and had 3 children, then moved to Califtornia. I am still surprised I found him. Will you tell me what information from Samuel Wyatt your mother used to be accepted by the DAR? I've thought all along the Samuel Wyatt was my ancestor but I don't have any documentation - just what other people say. I can't find any information on James Wyatt (Sarah Ann Gregory) - he just seems to have disappeared after he and Sarah Ann divorced. I can find her on the census living with her parents, Robert Gregory and Mildred Arthur, but nothing on James. Thanks Fran

The older stuff is documented in many places, my mother was accepted into the Magna Carta Dames on her descendancy from deMowbray, and the relationship from Samuel Wyatt has been accepted by the DAR. She has worked on this line for about 30 years, has left me to tie up loose ends and find the ones she could not. I would love to get the information on Robert Clifton. As you will see, Stevie J.'s oldest son was named Robert. Bet it was after his uncle. Strange how things come out. Sure do wish I had been interested in genealogy while my grandparents were alive. My mother did ask a whole lot, but I would love to have it on tape, and to have asked the questions that are now coming up. Let me know about the attachments. Mary

Although the death certificate I have for William doesn't show his wife's name, it does show the informant as S. J. Wyatt. I believe that is William's son Stephen, born 31 Aug, 1884. I have information that Stephen married Donna Ethen Clark on 27 June, 1906. It also shows that Stephen died 18 Nov, 1974 in Terre Haute, IN. I'm going to see if I can get Stephen's death certificate and hope that it shows his parents were. The one I am interested did marry Rebecca Crane (Crain) in 1883 in Cave City, Barren County, Kentucky. I have a copy of the "fancy" marriage license they received. They had four children-1884, 1889 and 1892, one I have no date for. Rebecca died in 1892 shortly after the birth of her last child. Benjamin never married after her death. My family members remember our Benjamin, I have pictures of him with my mother and her siblings. This has caused some confusion when checking census, etc. I don't know where the other Benjamin fits, if he does at all, in our line. Mary

I have his death certificate but it shows he's widowed so it doesn't say who his wife was. What makes you think he married Lucy Davis?
Joyce, No this is not an error. Stephen Dillard MESSER b. 1851 is a child of Stephen Dillard MESSER b. 1821 and Rebecca WOOLUM. Stephen (1851) did marry both Catherine PARROTT and then Rebecca SWANSON. Stephen (1821) is a child of Stephen MESSER b.1788 Sarah Sally GREGORY. I have seen others call her Betsy GREGORY, but I think it is the same person. This Stephen (1788) is a child of John MESSER and Agnes Unknown. The death certificate of Tennessee MESSER just threw me for a loop when it listed James MESSER as father. The informant is a W J MESSER. I'm not 100% sure of who this is, but Stephen (1851) and Rebecca SWANSON had a William J MESSER and if he was the informant he should have known who his and his siblings father was. Cassy.
