    1. Michael Mills Book
    2. I was thinking that maybe if enough people are interested in this book, Michael C. Mills - Barbourville, Kentucky: A Pictorial Look Back (1977), that we might get Michael Mills or the Knox County Historical Society to reprint this book. He lives in Bimble, just outside of Barbourville, Kentucky. I have a copy of his latest book, but I would love to have a copy of this book as well. I think there is another book he did about Knox County/Barbourville besides the 2 mentioned here. Does anyone know of another book he wrote? Debbie (Grubb) Petri Ableena@aol.com

I recently spoke with someone who has been to this cemetery and she gave me bad directions. Said it was off of HWY 11 but it isn't. I do know the general vacinity. It is over on HorseCreek, I was told by someone else near Sweet Hollow. I spoke with another person who said her grandpa owned the farm the cemetery was on. I asked her if she would give me directions and never heard back from her. ARGH.. I have a tombstone web site so I would love to find it myself. However, I can't swear this is the same Jones cemetery you are looking for the only people I know that are buried there are Stephen and Lavina Hammons Teague. Cassy. PS if you need a little bit better directions to the general area I can give you that, but then your on your own. If you find it please let me know.... foe3643@mac.com

    1. Spanish American War
    2. Does anyone know where I can find information on Knox Countians who served in the Spanish-American War? I just found on the 1930 Census that my father-in-law, Ballard Anderson, is listed as a veteran of the Spanish-American War. He would have been about 18 at the time. This is the first any of us have heard of it, and I would like to find some kind of confirmation. Thank you, Carol Anderson

    1. Curtis Blakeley
    2. Joyce Collins
    3. RESPONSE: This Curtis BLAKELEY and others in his family appear on both the 1850 and 1860 Whitley Co. Fed. Census. On the 1860, he is 80 years old with a 67 year old wife, Nancy. Most probably he was buried somewhere in Whitley Co. vs. Knox Co. I would think. It is a wonderful book and there are a few of the buildings and homes pictured in it still standing although many have been torn down including the depot. I somehow missed the print of the old depot. We lived in OH at the time. Michael C. Mills now has another book available. It is Images of America "Barbourville and Knox County". You can probably find it in book stores or order it on line. It is published by Arcadia Publishing and they can be contacted by e mail <sales@arcadiapublishing.com> or toll free 888 313 2665. This is also a great book. It was published in 2000.
