    3. I feel sure the white on black copy is just the way photostats came out in those days. I have had other documents from courthouses that are white on black. I don't know if they just didn't go through the whole process to make them black on white then or what. A certified copy of my birth certificate, issued in 1942, is white on black, and so was the first copy of our marriage license. It had an error on it so it was reissued not too many years ago and of course is black on white Am confident it had nothing to do with circumstances of birth! Aha! I just went to Google and it says a negative photostat is white on black but is not a mirror image and is on paper. It costs half as much as a positive photostat. Therefore, in many cases, a negative image is adequate and there is no need to spend the extra money for a positive. Looks like our courthouses perhaps do try to save money! ha. jean in ok

    2. Hello, In response about the black background and white writing... My father was born in 1946 and his original birth certificate had the black background and white writing.. And he was not a illegimate child. Both of his parents were married for years before he was born. And both parents are listed on his birth certificate. Thanks Patti

    3. Regarding the Black Background with white writing...That is an untrue statement as my mother's is like that and It does list her father and mother. So I do not think this means anything. My mother was born 1928. 3. RESPONSE: With regard to your first question, if the person was born after 1911 or died after 1911, birth and death records are much more readily available. You should make a posting with the name/s you are looking for and their ages or what you have and possibly where they were born or died. Anyone with a copy of the KY Birth and Death CD's should be able to provide you the date of birth or death and the Vol. and Cert # so you can order the record. If, however, the birth occurred prior to 1911 or the death occurred prior to 1911, there is a very good chance no record will be available. KY did not begin a formalized system for recording their vital statistics until 1911. With regard to the second question, I have absolutely no idea whether or not a particular color was used to designate an illegitimate status. Second, someone told me that if an original birth cert. had a black background and white writing then that person was illegitimate is this true? Thanks, Lesa <
