I spoke with my mother and she said she had heard that he had went to an election and someone was waiting for him to leave and then followed him and shot him. Have you found out any thing else? Are you a relative?

Still do not see this family as of the 1870. He was somewhat older than she was and so simply may have died. At least that is what the census indicates. Of course, the question is, when? When I went back through the 1870, I already checked for an Elizabeth or similiar spelling in the household of some other TUTTLE and did not see her. Here is the 1880 Clay: Dwelling 20-21 TUTTLE, Elizabeth, 53, (widow), b. KY; parents b. TN * * . Lewis, 30, son, KY . Daniel, 18, son, KY . Nancy, 16, dau, KY Dwelling 21-22 TUTTLE, Elizabeth, 71, (widow), b. KY; parents b. VA . Eliza, 36, dau, KY . Margaret, dau, 34, KY NOTE: James mar. I had gone to Ancestry.com and picked up this listing on the 1910 Miracode they have by requesting info on Dan vs. Daniel to see what I could locate: Enum. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CBB.2ACE/5146 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on the William Robert Taylor family of Knox County, KY. At the time of the 1850 census, William Robert was 39 years-old and married to a woman named Celia nicknamed "Sely" age 32, and they had the following children: William B (age 13), Robert C (age 11) Thomas J (age 9), Grant (age 7), Mary J (age 5), Margaret A(age 3) and Charles (age 5 months). By 1860, both William and Sely were presumed dead and their children were either bound out or adopted. My great-great grandfather, Charles G Taylor, was bound out as an indentured apprentice to a tavern keeper named Robert Henson. By 1870, Charles G. married Mary Catherine Potts of Rockcastle County, KY, and had the following children: Bennett, Alice, Monroe, Ellen, Robert, Oda, Benjamin, James, Pearl, Lena, and Nola. If you have anything to share on this family, it would make my day! They have been hard to trace. Thanks!

    1. Vaughns in Knox County
    2. Sherry, there are Vaughns buried in the Vaughn/McNeil Cemetery at the end of Bull Run Road off highway 459 in Knox County. They are as follows: Susan Vaughn, 2-11-1822------------3-4-1894 James Vaughn, 5-1-1814-------------6-11-1880 John S. Vaughn, 8-29-1888----------11-11-1888 s/o Mr. & Mrs. T. H. Vaughn One unmarked grave in this cemetery is supposed to be the grave of a Vaughn child who drowned in the creek not far from this cemetery. The Vaughns were supposed to have lived near here, thus the name of the cemetery. It was later changed to Vaughn/McNeil. Mary S.

    3. Sherry, I live very close to the Pine Hill and Rest Haven cemeteries and yes, if I come across the Vaughn stones I will post them for you. However, just so you and others can correct the information the Rest Haven and the Pine Hill cemeteries are in Corbin, but Knox County not Whitley. I too have had them listed in Whitley County but have been corrected on the county. Corbiin is a tough one as the city alone lines in three different counties. 2. Cassy, You are absolutely wonderful to have put this together and on-line. I thank you so much. I found a few of my names that I didn't know where they were. One was Arie Smith, which is Arie Pope married to William H. Smith in Rest Haven Cem., Knox Co., KY. I never knew where they were and am so excited to have found out. I am researching the Vaughn's and Pope's in the area and according to an obit in my family's records, Thomas Hutto Vaughn and his wife, Mildred Daniel Wyatt are in Pine Hill Cemetery, in Whitley Co., KY. If you ever get back out there and it's not too much trouble, I would love to have a photo of their stone. Also looking for any other Vaughn's out there. Thanks again for all your hard work and sharing with us! Sherry Vaughn Parks (Vaughn) KY & Hood (GA) http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sparks1544/
