    1. Millie Messer Shell Gray
    2. Joyce Collins
    3. RESPONSE: Well, like most everything else about our fascinating bunch of ancestors in Knox Co., I can add in some information to add to the confusion but not completely answer the questions posed. Here goes: Henry GRAY, son of Ebenezer GRAY and Winnie MESSER GRAY is who we are speaking of. I have a lst marriage for Henry GRAY as follows: January 11, 1893 Knox Co. Mar. Bond Book Q, Page 456 lst marriages for both at Ebb GRAY's GRAY, Henry, 23, b. Knox Co.: father: Ebenezer GRAY; mother: Winney GRAY, b. Knox Co. to: BAKER, Lucinda E., age 16, b. Knox Co.; father: Joseph BAKER; mother: Lucinda BAKER, both b. in Knox Co. Now comes the "interesting" part in the 2nd marriage: December 12, 1899 Knox Co. Marr. Bond Book T, Line 379 - 2nd marriages for BOTH at Jeff LEATHS GRAY, Henry, 37, b. Knox Co.; Father: E. GRAY: mother: Winnie GRAY to: SHELL, Millie, 25, b. Knox Co.: Father: W. A. WARREN: mother: Rebecca WARREN (this would actually be Rebecca CARNES WARREN mar. to William Anderson WARREN (s/o James Henry WARREN II and Mary Ann TAYLOR WARREN) Now, . . .I have the first marriage of this Millie SHELL who was Millie Ann WARREN b. abt. 1874 to Noah SHELL, b. abt .1870: Knox Co. Mar. Bond Book M., Page 306, marriage at: J. W. TAYLOR's SHELL, Noah, 20 yrs, b. in TN ; no info on parents; Milly Ann, age 16 yrs, b. in Knox Co. ,KY; parents also born in Knox Co.; first marriages for both - - -married. January 29, 1890 I have the other Millie MESSER in my data base but no additional information other than she was a twin. and who was a dau. of Ace/Asa MESSER but I don't have other information on her. At first I was thinking perhaps I had used the wrong Millie but then why would she show in 1899 as a dau. of W. A. WARREN and Rebecca CARNES when she mar. Henry GRAY at that time. There is no Ace/Asa MESSER mar. to a Rebecca. And, why would she be remarrying the same man she mar. in 1899 again in 1907? Unless they divorced and remarried and in the mean time, Rebecca CARNES MESSER got widowed (which she did) and then married Asa/Ace MESSER (I'm getting really wild here in my imagination - - no proof) See , Cassy, I told you --- - - just more confusion. At least we have sunshine and upper 60's and you have a foot of snow. 2. Cassy, my GG Grandparents Asa & Amanda (Mills) Messer had a daughter named Milly. I have her as being born in 1882 & no marriages listed. She doesn't really seem to fit what you have as far as age & mothers name. The Milly you have listed has her mother as being Rebecca & she would have been born in 1877.... if the correct age is listed in the marriage book? 3. Lois and Joyce, Does this Andrew Baker b. 18 Feb 1777 connect with Henry Baker b. abt 1850 that married Elizabeth Betty Mills b. 16 Jul 1856? I just ask as Elizabeth mother was also a Messer. I also have an "UNK" Baker that married Patsy Messer on 2 Dec 1857. I have heard that Patsy died just 5 days after they were married. Cassy. -- Please check out my new free genealogy site. You are correct that Telitha did have a child and her first child was Celia. However Celia would have been born about 1856 not 1836 as you first stated nor 1886 as the death certificate states. Also would Celia have gone by the name of Brackett? Are you sure that Merida Brackett is Celia's father? I only wonder and I have no proof one way or another, but Telitha was first married to "a" Noah Cox in 1853 and didn't marry Merida until 1857. using the 1860 Census records I believe that puts Celia being born right in the middle. Great to hear from you, Cassy.

    2. To: Joyce in Colorado The Andrew/Jane Baker that you wrote about were my 4th Greatgrandparents from Knox County Kentucky. His dates are 18 Feb 1777-12 Jan 1840. Her dates are 14 Mar 1782-20 Sept 1862. Their son Joseph (10 April 1810-10 Nov 1895) had a daughter Celia whom I have been unable to trace. I believe the one you have information is the same lady. I have a letter from Joseph's son, John E., telling of Joseph's death and burial in Smithton, Missouri. I do not know what happened to his wife Jane. Did she make it to Missouri? John E. first wife and two children died of Typhoid on their way West and are buried in Mechanicsburg, Indiana. I would love to correspond further with you. Lois Baker Nolan Indiana

The detail coverage was just great. I know you hear this praise all the time, because in the short time that I have visited this site, you have helped so many people. What a great job. I have very little information about Dicey Patterson, my g-grandmother. I just found out her name a few days ago from my grandmother's death certificate that I obtained from Frankfort, KY. Dicey died at a very young age around 1885. My grandmother was 10-11 years old and the three older brothers raised her. They worked in the coalmines. I do not know why she died so young or where she is buried. The only source for additional information is possibly the Lockard or Patterson families. Thanks again Virgil Scalf
