Another large update for the marriage records. I'm still waiting on two cd's which should be coming back soon, then as soon as i get them posted I will head back to the courthouse. With luck I should have all these Mills and Messer's finished then ;-) That was the goal when I started. One day.... Added to the Knox County Site. please forgive the misspellings they are mine, but the marriage records have been linked by the groom index as always if you find a broken link please let me know so I can try and corect it. I believe that Telitha (Litie) Messer daughter of Nelson Messer and Mahala Davis is my great grandmother. She was married to Palestine (Pal or Pallis Bingham) and they had a daughter Ollie Bingham, my grandmother. Telitha, her sister Adeline Messer Marlowe Miles, and Nelson Messer are buried on a small farm I own in Rockcastle county. Can we compare records? Iris Young in Mt. Joyce Collins has submitted the Barbourville Advocate Obits for March 30, 2006 and April 6, 2006 1904 School Census Districts 51-56 Thank you to Betty Davenport, Terry McDaniel and Jo Hague We currently have someone working on district 48 and 49 which are still missing and then Betty has offered to make copies of the last half of this school census. As soon as she sends me the copies we will need our volunteers again (or new ones) so we can finish this school census. Thank you ladies for the hard work it is greatly appreciated. Donna Jones has submitted a photograph of the Cooper and Campbell families. If anyone can help to identify some of the individuals in the photograph please get ahold of me or Donna. Also if anyone has a photograph they would like to see on the front page for a week or two please e-mail them to me. Off the list of course ;-) Virgil Scalf has donated the marriage record of Jasper Stanfill and Nannie Scalf. Virgil Scalf has donated a copy of what appears to be an older marriage index from 1865 and 1866 I don't think all the marriages are listed but check it out. Thank you everyone for the wonderful submissions. I have over 330 marriage records that I hope to put on the site this weekend. However, I would love donations from others. Please feel free to e-mail me anything you think the web site could use. ;-) Happy Easter! My gggreatfather George W Henson b 1799 NC and his wife Anna Forbis-Henson sold their last 50 acres in Jackson Co KY in 1859 to a John EVANS. George W and Anna Henson moved to MO and were found in the 1860 Webster Co MO census as George 'Hanson'. I noticed that Anna's older sister Elizabeth Forbis-Porter and Elizabeth's husband Harrison Ross Porter were found in the household of Elijah EVANS and his wife Matilda Moore-EVANS (who married June 05, 1820 Knox Co KY) per the 1850 Laurel Co KY Census. Sure would like to know how John EVANS connects to the Evans-Forbis-Moore-Henson of Knox/Laurel/Jackson Co KY. Thanks for sharing whatever you can on these 'connected' families. 'R.E.'

I can't believe I pass this store 6 times a week and never even saw the sign or knew it was the old Post Office until she pointed it out to me! I'm still searching for others who may have old photographs of Knox County Post Offices. Would love to have a photograph of each of the Post Offices posted on the site. Ray Stewart and Neda Taylor have completed the 1860 Knox County census and it is now on the web site. Thank you guys this was a huge undertaking for the two of you and I'm sure we will all enjoy it for years to come! More to post this week... Just got back from a long needed spring break in Florida. So if you have submitted information in the past week I will try and get it posted today or tomorrow. In the meantime I have two districts left at the house of the 1904 school census. Would love help to finish this up. It won't be completed, but what I have here at the house will be completed and I'll make a run to the courthouse in the next week to finish off this book. If you have a little spare time and can use a spreadsheet would love the help. Cassy.
