There is no record of her in the KY birth index. There does not seem to be any evidence of her either in KY or in any other state as of the 1920 and 1930 Fed. Census. There are several Geneva OWENS listed but in other states with births estimated anywhere from 1916 to 1920 and earlier ones and later ones. As far as the State of KY goes, there are NO Geneva OWENS have GAREY children in KY at any point. The only thing that comes up is the SSDI record which states: Geneva GAREY b. 7-30-1917 d. 6-21-2001 at Corbin, Whitley Co., KY SSN: 406-07-6303 One route for you to go would be to pay $27 and send for her SS application from the Social Security Administration. That application would list her parents' names and some other information. Another route would be to see what newspapers there were in the Corbin, Whitley Co., KY area and attempt to locate an Obit for her in the hopes it would have more detailed information. Or. . . possibly contact some Whitley Co., KY funeral homes to see it any were in charge of her final arrangements. Joyce Taylor Collns La Palma, CA p.s. You do not say what your relationship is to this person nor do you give any other pertinent information regarding her such as an earlier marriage or children or whatever.

I would also like to further state by looking to their posts on RootsWeb, "Blog" have contributed NOTHING to ANY board, except this exact post, sent to 10 different boards- NOTHING more. We have full authority to post any & all obituaries. If we did not RootsWeb would have deleted them and sent out warnings. Thank you for your consideration!

Please by all means post a copy of their obituary on here. However, if you do not know these people. Please do not post a gazillion obtiuaries on here which may never be viewed by their friends or family members. Rootsweb.com does have its own obituary board and if you feel you need to post someone's obituary, you can post their obituary information on here. The obituary board was set up so that when someone was looking for an obituary, that if their obituary was to be found on rootsweb, that it could be found on this particular board. Thank you for your consideration.

A little trivia, but important it you can't find you ancestor. http://www.ask.com/web?q=Peshtigo%2C+Wisconsin&qsrc=0&o=0 On October 8, 1871 (the same day as the Great Chicago Fire), a prairie fire driven by strong winds totally consumed Peshtigo along with a dozen other villages, killing 1,200 to 2,500 people and charring approximately 1.5 million acres (6,000 km²). This fire, known as the Peshtigo Fire, is the deadliest in American history. 1871 - Four major fires break out on the shores of Lake Michigan in Chicago, Illinois, Peshtigo, Wisconsin, Holland, Michigan, and Manistee, Michigan. The Great Chicago Fire is the most famous of these, having left nearly 100,000 people homeless, although the Peshtigo Fire killed as many as 2,500 people making it the deadliest fire in United States history.

Can anyone help out this school teacher? Looking for information about a cemetery located on the Ben Huls. This cemetery contains graves of slaves-maybe over a hundred graves. Joyce Collins has sent in The Barbourville Mountain Advocate Obituaries for the weeks of April 13, 2006 and April 20, 2006. Thank you Joyce for doing this each week for us. Jo Hague has donated the following Death Certificates that are now posted, Thank you Jo! Without everyones help the site couldn't be what it is today. With a little help from the Post Office Historian in Washington DC we now have the Baughman Post Office posted to the Knox County Web site. Looking through the list I really think we are missing many of the older Post Offices especially those that are no longer around. If anyone knows of an old discontinued post Office in Knox County that doesn't appear on our list let me know. As a Postal Worker the PO will research a PO free for us. I don't want to ask them to look up to many at a time but one a month would be great until the list is finished! The following Post Office Photographs have been added to the web site: Walker.jpg Flat-Lick.jpg Greenroad.jpg Heidrick.jpg Dewitt.jpg Cannon.jpg Bryants-Store.jpg I found these photographs on Post Mark Collectors Club Web site which can be located at: http://www.postmarks.org/ I still have more posts, maybe tonight if time allows.
