Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CBB.2ACE/5883.2.1.1 Message Board Post: General and Rosa had 13 children. My aunt told me that, she was their granddaughter. She has passed now. I called my uncle today, another grandchild, and he remembered his aunts and uncles. He said they didn't see them very often. He said that the one called Mae was Flora, they called her Florie sometimes and then Mae. So her name was Flora Mae, but her tombstone only says Mae. I also wondered if Marion could be General, but I am just using General. There isn't a middle name for General on his death certificate, and the informer on it was his daughter, nor is it on his tombstone. My uncle said he had never heard that name. He had never heard of an Allos either. He also knew some of Sallie Patterson's children. He knew Sallie's husband but he didn't know his name, he said they just called him K. I think on the 1920 census the name under Willie is Mary. I think the middle initial is L, so maybe it was Mary Lee or Lou and that is just how the census taker wrote it. Uncle didn't know her middle name. He knew Lee and stuff about him, but never heard the name Levi. It says Lee on his tombstone. There are several of their children buried near General and Rosa, including Ben, Lee, Sallie, Mae, Mary, Jencie and Pearl. Mary - April 1, 1901 Mae - Oct 18, 1915 Pearl - June 19, 1910 William Wilson is a pretty common name. That 1880 census seems to be them to me, but it has Pansee for the wife's name. That could be a transcriber error, or the wrong family, I haven't seen the original. Maybe Marion is a transcriber error too. Did you look closely at the M.J. on the 1870 census? That could be M.G, the age would be right. Can you tell me where you got the birthdates for Charlie, William, and Bertha?

    2. Cassy, I just recently found out that my Great Grandpa Jame Sears, son of John Lewis Sears and Phoebe Bennett Sears was in the Civil War. I wrote to Washington DC to get the reocrds and it has been almost 2 months now. They said that they had a flood there a few weeks ago and things are slow right now. BUT.... When I get them I would be proud for you to put them on the Knox County Site! Pati Sears-Burnett

    3. Here is the plea for the Knox County Web Site. I would love to start adding pension records to the ever growing Knox County Web site. The problem is at $37.00 a copy for a set of records I just can't afford that. But... If anyone has copies of pension records they could scan and e-mail to me I would love to add them. I have a few myself that others have sent me but because they are usually on legal size paper my scanner won't scan something that large :-( Also now is the time to send away if you have anything you would like to add to the site. I have a few more cemeteries to post but other than that I'm about out of my personal items. I would suggest that you take I75 South and take the Jellico Exit. I am sure it is marked. If you do not like that way there is a way from Pineville across the mountain into Jellico. I am looking for old maps of Knox County, KY (around 1850-1900), specifically showing things like creeks, precincts, post offices, etc. I have a photocopy of one map I obtained at the County Courthouse a month or so ago, but it is a very rough photocopy and hard to read. Thought someone might know of a place online to view or download a map. I've tried google and MapQuest, etc. Thanks for your help.
