After a week in Washington DC and a much needed break I'm back at adding information on the Knox County Web Site. Michelle Cook sent in the DC for Robert McCabe and William McCabe both are now added. Gene Newman has donated Transcribe Pension information for James Chick and John Garland both are now added on the site. I have over 2,000 marriage records that many people have been helping with this past weekend and hope to have them all online sometime this coming week. Thank you for everyone who answered when I asked for help. It makes information go up on the site so much faster with everyone contributing. Please correct me if I am wrong. Missouri's mother was Mary Evans Bolton. Mary's mother was Mariah Isabelle Hale. Mariah had an aunt Malinda Hale, who was the wife of John Parrott. So Malinda would have been Missour's great grandaunt. Does this make sense? It took me a while to figure this out.

Lucy Jones was the first wife of Thomas Chandler Parrott, Sr. Lucy Jones and Thomas Chandler Parrott, Sr. had 3 children: Sarah Elizabeth, Lafayette and Mary Francis Parrott. Upon the death of John Jones, the 3 children of Lucy Jones Parrott, since Lucy died before her father, were named as heirs in John Jones' will. Missouri Jones has always been a mystery, but obviously there must be a family connection. Rose Jones, a sibling of Lucy, also married into the Parrott family. I have no Ephraim Jones nor Missouri Jones in my files, therefore I do not know how they relate.

On the 1880 census, it shows Missouri Jones living with this family. I am descended through Missouri's brother, Ephraim Jones. I have been in contact with a descendant of Missouri. She told me that Missouri talked about operating a ferry across a river at a young age, I am assuming the Cumberland, that belonged to a family member. Since she was living with the Parrotts, it is possible that they were the owners. Would you have any information on this? Thanks, Brian.
Subject: NARA rule to change research/exhibit hours in DC area; public comment request ** High Priority ** The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) published today, July 25, 2006, in the Federal Register an interim final rule requesting public comment on a change in the hours for conducting research at the National Archives Building (DC) and National Archives at College Park (MD) and for visiting the Rotunda and National Archives Experience on the Constitution Ave side of the National Archives Building. § This rule and the changed hours will go into effect October 2, 2006. § Comments on this document must be received by September 8, 2006. See the rule at the link below or at www.regulations.gov for information on the ways to submit comments. § A public meeting relating to the rule will be held at the Jefferson Room in the National Archives Building at 1 pm on August 3. Please enter through the Special Events entrance on the Constitution Avenue side of the building (between 7th St. and 9th St. NW). Reservations are not required but space may be limited. § A link to the rule is at: http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2422/01jan20061800/edocket.access.gpo .gov/2006/pdf/E6-11763.pdf BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON THE RULE: NARA is revising its regulations with respect to research room and museum hours at our facilities in the Washington, DC, area. The operating costs for these facilities have been increasing every year, particularly for staffing, security services and utilities. In these times of fiscal restraint, NARA has determined reluctantly that it is necessary to curtail service during time frames when only a small percentage of our users are present to ensure that we are able to provide quality services to customers during the times of greatest public use while we are also conducting other mission-critical duties. Additional information about this rule making is available in the text of the document at the URL above. ==== PANORTHA Mailing List ==== http://www.pa-roots.com/~northampton http://www.rootsweb.com/~pabucks http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~buckscounty
Beth, I talked to them yesterday and they had not even opened my letter as of yet. So I am not looking for the papers for some time I guess. What a wonderful job you have! Pati
Hi Pati, Today, was the first day I have been to NARA since the flood. They reopened the Research rooms last Wednesday. I'm a professional researcher and I research for others at NARA. The flood did a lot of damage to the basement (thank goodness the records are housed on the upper floors). Due to the flood, NARA is not operating on 100% electricity. They have cut back their hours of operation to 8am - 5pm. Everyone has to be out of the building by 5:00, except for security personnel. They are no longer opened on the weekends. I was told today that this will continue for the rest of the year and possibly next year. This is not all flood related, but is also related to the budget crunch. They are cutting back on personnel and have a hiring freeze going on. Just FYI Beth -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, July 25, 2006 8:41 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [KYKNOX] Pension files Cassy, I just recently found out that my Great Grandpa Jame Sears, son of John Lewis Sears and Phoebe Bennett Sears was in the Civil War. When I get them I would be proud for you to put them on the Knox County Site!
