Carter EARL HANDSHOE, age 63, of rural Lagrange county died on Monday, February 22, 2010 at his home. Mr. Handshoe was born in Yellow Mountain, Knott County, Kentucky on July 4, 1946 to the late Walter and Junie (Hicks) Handshoe. He married Barbara Arnold on September 11, 1965 in Clintwood, Virginia. Earl was employed with Coachman R.V. in Middlebury and earlier with Lane Foundry in Kendallville. He was a member of Mt. Calvary United Baptist Church in Stroh and loved regularly attending church with his brothers and sisters in The Lord. He devoted many hours to helping families in need organize benefit fundraisers. Earl also enjoyed going on long walks, hunting and fishing. Survivors include: His wife, Barbara Handshoe of Lagrange. Son, Earl and Karen Handshoe, Jr. of Lagrange. Daughter, Pamela Handshoe of Lagrange. Daughter, Heather and David Stanley of Lagrange. Son, Eric Hepner of Lagrange. 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Brothers, Denzil Gene Handshoe of Hindman and Victor Handshoe of Mongo. Sisters, Lucinda Combs of London, Kentucky; Patricia Hicks of Hindman; and Luna Kay Handshoe of Hindman. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ada Hicks and Theresa Handshoe and three brothers, Ray, Freddie and Rodney Handshoe. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 24, 2010, from 3:00-8:00pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville with a prayer service at 6:00pm. Funeral Services will be Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 11:00am at Mt. Calvary United Baptist Church in Stroh. The family will receive family and friends after 9:00am at the church before the funeral service. Officiating the funeral service will be Rev. Willie Collins and Rev. Ron Bell. Burial will be at Brushy Chapel Cemetery in LaGrange, Indiana.
