    3. Novella Bruce Novella Bruce, 81, of Louisville passed away September 7, 2010 at Baptist Hospital East. She was born on January 8, 1929 to the late Corlis Davidson and Bessie Combs Davidson in Knott County, Kentucky. She was retired from Pillsbury with over 30 years of service and a member of Manuel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, William M. Bruce; two brothers, Elhannon Jennings Davidson and Leonce Davidson and a sister, Juanita Sanders. She is survived by her children, Barbara Jean Matherly (James) and Darin L. Bruce (Patty); several step children Grandchildren, Pamela Barr, Brad Matherly and Jimmy Bruce; two great-grandchildren, Cole Jacob and Chanse Rondell; two sisters, Coleene Blaylock and Joyce Singleton; and a brother, Leon Davidson; several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family. A celebration of her life will be conducted Saturday September 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. He was 90. He grew up in Prestonsburg. Besides his wife, Martha Jane Fitzpatrick, Fitzpatrick leaves behind his children, Jane M. Hopson and her husband, Edwin S. Hopson, Sr., of Louisville, Kentucky and Franklin D. Fitzpatrick and his wife Kathy A. Fitzpatrick, of Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Fitzpatrick also leaves behind four grandchildren, Edwin Hopson, Fran Thornton, Bryan Fitzpatrick, and Olivia Fitzpatrick, and four great-grandchildren, Henry Thornton, Grace Thornton, Dylan Hopson, and James Thorton. He was the husband of Justine Johnson Hamilton. He is survived by 1 son: Marlin Douglas Hamilton, and Debra Nicole Hamilton, both of Teaberry; 1 brother: John L. Mrs. Smith was born in Bear Branch, KY., in Knott County, on May 7, 1929, to Ashford and Della (Gibson) Conley. She married Hargis Smith on May 16, 1946, in Hazard. Grace was a nurses aide and employed for ten years at Mark's Nursing Home and Miller's Merry Manor both in LaGrange. She was a member of the Salem United Baptist Church in Rome City. Grace enjoyed listening to music and singing, gardening, and bird watching from her porch. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and being involved in her church. She is survived by her husband Hargis Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Leisa Smith of Howe; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Joe Olson of Pacific, Missouri; daughter, Cathy Fulford of Kendallville, Indiana; 5 grandchildren: Amy Darling of Antioch, Illinois; David Olson of Blair, Nebraska; Sarah Kreicbergs of Independence, Missouri; Shawn Detwiler of Elkhart; and Jason Fulford of Ligonier; 8 great grandchildren; brother, James Conley of Wolcottville; 1/2 sister, Kathryn Fugate of Clear Creek. Smith, age 71 of Marengo died unexpectedly Monday, September 20, 2010 at St. Ann's Hospital following an automobile accident near Sunbury. He was born on September 23, 1938 in Knott County, Kentucky. Formerly of Columbus, he had been a Marengo resident for the past 39 years. A retired finish carpenter by trade, he was a self employed master craftsman, specializing in custom stairways, furniture, and interior trim work. He took great pride in his work and was even prouder when it was recognized by others. His work motto was always "quality not quantity". An avid golfer, he enjoyed collecting and tinkering with different golf clubs. Always a fisherman, he especially enjoyed fishing the waters of Florida. He also had a passion for the banjo and playing Blue Grass music. He was always up for a cup of coffee, all day long. Gentle, quiet, and even tempered he treasured his family, especially his grandchildren. He taught his family to be mindful of the work taken to earn each dollar before spending it. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years: Dean (Slone), daughter: Teresa Rinehart of Marengo, his big and little babies grandchildren: Matthew Rinehart (fiancée Desiree), Morgan (Angie) Rinehart, Greatgrandchildren: Aubry and Reece. He was preceded in death by his mother Gladys (Smith) Williams.
