He and Orlela traveled around the country for Adrian's specialized communications training. After the war, they returned to Troublesome Creek and bought a sunny mountainside land across from McGilton's Branch. They built their first cabin home on the land and planned for their big house which they had designed themselves. Adrian and his father quarried and hand cut the stone for the house. While finishing the big house, their first daughter, Teresa, was born. He also served eight years on the Perry County School Board and was an active member of Hull Presbyterian Church. He as an engineer, a scout, a good fire maker, a carpenter, a stone mason, a visionary, a humorist and a teller of tall tales. He could solve any problem and make anything from nothing.
